Guest guest
Hi Fran Is it possible to wear a night time retainer to counteract grinding while you're wearing braces, or did you have to stop? Talk about having a mouth full eh!! I'm not up to even the braces stage and I'm so scared of grinding my teeth away that it would take a lot of mental preparation for me to be able to stop wearing my bite plate at night. When I go away I get really worried that I've forgotten to pack it! I imagine my clenching could get a lot worse when the braces start to move my teeth in preparation for the new jaw position. Your crowns are going to be a massive makeover for you, wow! I've only been clenching for about 7 years and have had a bite plate for the last 3, and it's my back teeth that are on the way out. 50 years is a long time, it's a wonder you have any teeth left! I bet they are sensitive. Best, > > > > Hi to all other bruxers > > > > I just want to shout my frustration that wearing away our own > teeth at > > night is horrendous! Guest guest
Hi , I don't think you can wear a nightguard with the braces. I mentioned it to my OD, but thinking about it, I didn't really get an answer. But I will check it out my next appointment which is in about two weeks. Yeah, my teeth are pretty short now. They used juvinille brackets on me as the adult ones were too large to fit onto my teeth. And even with that, you really can't see the whites of my teeth except between the brackets! I really look like metal mouth! lol I see my sisters braces, and it looks so different if you have longer teeth. Much better I think. But in the end, I will have long teeth and an even profile. So it is worth what I am looking at now. lol Since I have the bite plate with the braces, I find that my grinding is really limited to the front two teeth - upper and bottom. I guess that is because that is the only two teeth that even come close to touching! lol And mainly it is my bottom teeth grinding on the bite plate. Because my jaw is in a different position, I don't think I am grinding as hard though. It gives me hope that a new jaw position will alleviate or at least minimize the grinding I do. It is a pleasant thought anyway! My teeth have worn past the dentum, so they are somewhat sensitive, but more often they actually hurt. The front are worse than the back with that also. We can follow each other on this one! Hugs, Fran > > > > > > Hi to all other bruxers > > > > > > I just want to shout my frustration that wearing away our own > > teeth at > > > night is horrendous!
