Guest guest
Have you considered fish oil or other omega 3's? A supplement I was put on is Seacure - pre-digested white fish. Guest guest
Hey Adam, This might not be the same for you, but I found that giving up dairy recently(yogurt & hard cheese) has made a big difference also in my inflmation. I feel a lot better w/o dairy, and at the moment feel like a healthy pain free human! (I still also thank coconut oil for this too). I suspect that the dairy was creating that autoimmune response in my system = inflamtion, pain, achy body, etc. I am now experimenting with making scd coconut yogurt, I am using a recipe to make coconut milk like this one http://www.elanaspantry.com/diy-coconut-milk/ - but I subbed in some honey for the stevia. My coconut yogurt is runny - but I think it will be great in smoothies. I follow the coconut milk recipe, but just leave in the coconut pieces, instead of straining it out. Then I keep it in the yogurt maker for 12 hours, instead of 24. My understanding is coconut is high in fiber, and I think fiber is supposed to help in cleaning out the colon. If you try that bentonite clay - let us know how that works! I am of the midset that I would be willing to try it, if thought it would help! (hope this isn't bad advice) You mentioned you might be reacting to the chicken soup, but do you think it's possible it could be the yogurt? Just a thought - all of this is so different for each of us - and what works for me, might not work for anyone else. But I just got to thinking about how pecanbread.com is totally dairy free, and how many other folks on this diet are doing dairy free - and there were a few years where I was dairy free before finding scd... Hope you start feeling better! - SCD 4 Months http://farmgirldiet.blogspot.com/ > > I am currently on 40 mg of prdnisone to help with a bad flare and am looking for alternative natural products. > > Is anyone taking natural anti-inflammatory supplements such as this? > > http://www.gardenoflife.com/ProductsforLife/SUPPLEMENTS/ImmunitySupport/FYIsupsu\ pULTRA/tabid/658/Default.aspx > > Are these ingredients scd legal? > > I am currently making 2 fresh batches of elaines chicken soup each week (eating a large bowl daily) as well as eating 3 tablespoons of coconut oil per day with the scd yogurt both of which I think are helping ( though recently I have had some bad reactions to the broth. Guest guest
I am also dairy free except for the yogurt. I looked through my log and it seemed like my symptoms were worse after each time I ate this last batch of soup. If I don't get regular bm in the next two weeks, I will try the clay and let you know. The coconut oil has definitely helped me. > > > > I am currently on 40 mg of prdnisone to help with a bad flare and am looking for alternative natural products. > > > > Is anyone taking natural anti-inflammatory supplements such as this? > > > > http://www.gardenoflife.com/ProductsforLife/SUPPLEMENTS/ImmunitySupport/FYIsupsu\ pULTRA/tabid/658/Default.aspx > > > > Are these ingredients scd legal? > > > > I am currently making 2 fresh batches of elaines chicken soup each week (eating a large bowl daily) as well as eating 3 tablespoons of coconut oil per day with the scd yogurt both of which I think are helping ( though recently I have had some bad reactions to the broth. Guest guest
I have severe Crohns with bloody d bathroom trips many times a day and constant stomach pain. I was diagnosed last march but didn't get really bad until right before I started scd 5 mo ago and again at my 3 mo flare ( which I have been battling for two mo now). The diet worked from day 14 to 90ish. >

Guest guest
my symptoms were worse after each time I ate this last batch of soup.Just a thought - I was adding Apple cider vinegar to my chicken soup to 'leech' the goodness from the bones into the broth (as some SCDers have recommended). I would react to the soup each time, until I omitted the Apple cider vinegar. I think my reaction was caused by the vinegar being extremely high in Salicylates.HTHAnne-Marie in AustraliaSCD 4 months
Guest guest
Casein- free- from cow's milk. I guess goat milk is not the same. Many kids with ASD react behaviorally to the casein, but I guess that is not as much an issue with adults with gut issues. Guest guest
Have you considered LDN? http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/lowdosenaltrexone/ Also, have you had a colonoscopy and do you know where your disease is located? Or is it widespread inflammation. Is the blood bright red or brown? Guest guest
Pecanbread is NOT totally dairy free. Goat's milk yogurt instead of cow's milk yogurt is recommended for those on the Autism spectrum, since the casein protein of cow's milk is much harder to digest. Also there needs to be a gap of about 6 months before the yogurt is introduced if prior to starting the diet, the individual was dairy free. One can still use nut milk as an alternative to make the yogurt if there are issues with the goat milk yogurt too. Guest guest
I forgot to add, that I also started taking fish oil & a Vitamin B-Multivitim, with B-12. (my boyfriend happened to have these on hand already) My last blood test suggested I might below in Vitamin B-12, I think. I also read it can be good for those with inflammed bowel disease. http://www.ehow.com/facts_5506604_low-vitamin-crohns-disease.html My order of S. boulardii arrived recently too, so I am taking some of that each day. It seems these added supplements are helping - but it wasn't til I just gave up dairy that I could truly feel the inflammation really start to go away. And my naturopath doc appointment is tomorrow - curious what they will suggest! Good Luck - maybe go super easy on the clay at first? Just to be careful - > > > I am also dairy free except for the yogurt. Maybe I misunderstood something :-) Many parents start their children out completely dairy free, since they have often been gluten and casein-free (GFCF). Then, after healing has occurred, they add the goat yogurt. Thus, the phases are geared to be dairy-free, so that one can use, or not-use dairy, as desired. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle

Try some lemon juice. Basically, a little acid is all that's needed. Guest guest
The ACV you used- did it contain the mother? Hi JodiCongratulation on feeling better - out with that pesky parasite I say :-)The ACV I used is Cornwell's Apple Cider Vinegar - Fermented from 100% apple juice. It doesn't say anything about 'the mother' (yeast). From their description, can you tell if it contains 'the mother'? It looks completely clear to me with no visible sediment.CheersAnne-MarieCanberra, AustraliaIBS 2007SCD 4 months

Guest guest
I wonder if ACV increases natural glutamates in the broth Thanks for thinking of this Jodi. Now I remember I had been wondering if it was the glutamates some weeks ago. I will revisit my thinking on them again, and let my husband have the batch of chicken stock I made yesterday without ACV - just to be on the safe side. I even woke up this morning after having an SCD dream! I was at a function lining up for food. The waitress had put meat and peas on my plate and I could see something that looked starchy on both of them. I was walking back to my table knowing I didn't want to eat it and wondering how I could get it off my food! Keep wellAnne-Marie

Guest guest
Dr says my whole colon is inflamed. I have had 4 colonoscopy/sigmoid since last march. Blood is bright when I have enought food in me, but is brown when all the food is gone. Haven't tried ldn because I take norco for pain and I understand that will block the pain killing effects. I have been a bit better since I started remicade in addition to s bouldarii, bromelain, papain and coconut oil. I also started to purée my veggies, stopped eating cooked apples and home made apple juice as the sediment was creating problems. I am nervous about taking the bentonite clay, so I will wait another week or so to see if I continue to improve. > >> > >>> I am currently on 40 mg of prdnisone to help with a bad flare and am looking for alternative natural products. > >>> > >>> Is anyone taking natural anti-inflammatory supplements such as this? > >>> > >>> http://www.gardenoflife.com/ProductsforLife/SUPPLEMENTS/ImmunitySupport/FYIsupsu\ pULTRA/tabid/658/Default.aspx > >>> > >>> Are these ingredients scd legal? > >> > > > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > > >
