Guest guest
Hi we tried periactin with Liam when he was about 12 months. Periactin is an antihistamine with the side effect of increasing appettite, and lethargy,we could not keep Liam awake once he had had periactin. I believe alot of RSS kids have results with periactin probably when they are a bit older than your daughter. It is something I would consider again, when Liam has had all his reflux and constipation brought under control. We made the trip to Chicago for the Magic foundation convention last year and talked to Dr Harbison who is an expert on RSS. She said their is no point pushing these kids to eat when they have so many other issues to fix first. At this point I should mention Liam is g tube fed. Please ask lots of questions here, there are many parent who have been where you are. Is your daughter feeding on her own now? or has she got an NG tube. Guest guest
There are quite a few of us whose children have had that " triple procedure. " It's not an easy surgery and it takes some time to recover from it, but IT WORKS!!!! My son Max is 17 and did not have his done until he was 15. It as not really done that often for our kids until then. He suffered from terrible reflux, extreme delayed gastric empyting and a myriad of other problems stemming from them. He had a g-tube until just last spring, although in the past few years it was only used for venting or when he was really sick. The surgery was the beginning of his turnaround to good health. After so many years of struggling, medicating and worrying, he was able to finally eat without throwing up and feeling nauseous all the time. I cannot say that Max is symptom-free, though. Many kids still need reflux meds and some other extra support, but the surgery is definitely a good boost in the right direction. Please tell us more about your son. You must have some pretty good doctors if they are knowledgable about this already. Where are you from? Jodi Z
Guest guest
Hi , My son had the same procedures at age 2 yr 4 mo and it has made a tremendous difference in our lives. The pyloroplasty really worked to speed up his digestion. Feel free to email me directly with any questions.
