Guest guest
I use SCD yogurt as well as an L. acidophilus supplement. I have also been able to add homemade sauerkraut, but this is definitely more advanced (but, in my opinion, quite worth it if and when you can add it.) > > Hello all! I think that Elaine says the homemade yogurt each day is sufficient for keeping good stuff in your system, but I wanted to know where the people here fall on this. Do most just do the yogurt, or do many supplement with an acidophilus pill as well? I know when I was diagnosed my acidophilus was almost non-existent, so we knew I had an imbalance there. I'm finally stepping away from the probiotics my Naturopath has me on because of the bifidum in them. I'm cautious though of just going the yogurt way, and am unsure if that will be sufficient. > > Pam > www.newfoundsun.wordpress.com >

Pam, I did just the yogurt for most of the first four years I was on SCD. I did keep a bottle of Lyo-San capsules around for when I didn't get yogurt made. Then came Hurricane Katrina, and my yogurt-making went to heck in a hand basket, and I spent most of a year doing just Lyo-San. Now I'm back doing yogurt.... A great deal depends. Some people are ok with just yogurt. Some people are ok with a supplement. Some people need both. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle

Guest guest
WOW.. that is just what I have been wondering.???. Reading all of the discussion of charcole and LDN and all the other things that are done to counter react Yeast. Ect ect ect. I started wondering if yogurt and the Freeda SCD B Complex with C and Zinc was enough of what I was supposed to be doing. I was not a cheese person and I try to add some of that to my diet at least once a week.. I try to eat a half cup to a full cup of yogurt daily. Just found out this weekend that if I mash a half banana in it I can just eat the yogurt with a spoon.. I did not like the flavor unless mixed in a smoothie. So if we eat LEGAL and take in the amount of yogurt our body can tollerate, we are doing all that is expected? unless other issues arise??? 41 UC sept 09 SCD July 12 2010 To: BTVC-SCD Sent: Sun, October 17, 2010 9:24:17 PMSubject: Re: Does yogurt really do it, or do we need a supplement as well? Guest guest
So if we eat LEGAL and take in the amount of yogurt our body can tollerate, we are doing all that is expected? unless other issues arise??? You got it! Sometimes people get a tad enthusiastic about additional things which they have found which helps their particular systems. I'm guilty of it, myself, sometimes. But many thousands of people have gotten well on just SCD, and the SCD-legal supplements, like the multi-vitamins and probiotics if desired. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle

In particular, the proteases are designed to digest protein. The good bacteria are protein. SO if you take proteases at the same time as the good bacteria, they will digest the good bacteria. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
