Guest guest
Here's the setup: don't know if you non-Eastcoasters have heard this, but we are in the midst of a major blizzard. We being various states on the eastern seaboard, from parts of NC on up. So far some areas in NY & NJ have gotten a modest (!) minimum 8 inches while others are up to 12, and counting. The prediction is that we will be getting a considerable amount more before the day ends, with hellacious winds & a chill factor right now of like in the 20s. Translation: it is a bitch outside! Okay do we get the setup? All day the major network TV channels have been " covering " the storm continuously, so it's been inescapable from every angle. There's no ignoring it. Throughout the morning, there'd be various " live " shots from different locales, like Central Park, and places in Jersey, and even up here by me in Westchester County. Didn't really matter all that much where the various camera crews were stationed, cause to me it ALL looked like the friggin' artic circle. But what cracked me up was that a couple of times, you'd see some idiot out there running. Saw a guy running in Central Park, right as the winds & snow blasted him. Saw another guy running in Scarsdale, where his eyebrows & eyelashes were encrusted with snow and his face was beet red. I've always known runners were whacked, but this was excessive, even for THEIR crazy asses! Now where I live, I see runners quite regularly, and of course there are REGULAR runners too. See 'em consistently. There is one guy in particular that I will see every time I am home and always between 12:30 to 1:00 pm -- like veritable clockwork! How I've become so acutely aware of this is that Chloe (aka " the thing that should not be " ) becomes insanely enraged and has a you-know-what fit every time he runs past our house. The thing that drives me especially nuts about this particular guy is that he runs a weird " circuit " back and forth and back and forth etc. so that he passes my house not just twice (there and back) but SEVERAL freakin' times, and each time Chloe gets more and more apoplectic, till I think she's going to pass out from barking. Oh let's just say, it's not a pleasant afternoon when this happens! LMAO! So today, I'm in the kitchen watching the coverage and doing kitchen stuff, when it's like 12:30 and the dog goes WILD (as only her psycho pug self can.) What the F is going on, I say to myself ... and sure enough, I look out my Living Room window and guess who's running by. And of course, it's back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And the dog just barks and barks, barks and barks, barks and barks. I came " THIS CLOSE " today to opening up my door and screaming out to him: " SCHMUCK, GO HOME AND JUMP IN PLACE, OKAY!?!?!? " and might have done it too, if I hadn't HEARD the damn wind blowing outside. I'm not kidding ... runners..... they are just whacked! LOLOLOL! I have been out twice to keep up with the shoveling. I suspect that I will be out there again very soon . Oh well, life on the east coast. Guest guest
Yep...checking in from northern NJ here. I'd say at least 14 inches so far, with no end in sight. As soon as you shovel, it's covered again. The malls are open, and the reporters show people there! These people are nuts! I live on a dead-end street, and we haven't even been plowed yet. This sucks big time. in NJ ***************************** > Here's the setup: don't know if you non-Eastcoasters have heard this, but we are in the midst of a major blizzard. Guest guest
Nope, a little red sports thing doesn't cut it in this stuff. It's pretty today, but tomorrow will be a different story. You're still young, that's why you like it. I think it should snow only on Christmas and be gone the next day. I feel like Scrooge...LOL in NJ ************************* > - > Im loving every minute of it :-) my arms hurt from the shoveling but had fun with the kids and dog today playing it. All this snow puts me in the holiday mood :-) wish i could go to the malls but my car isnt going anywhere ( little red sports thing it is). Keep warm :- ) > Tara >
Guest guest
Well, move to Texas!! Ha ha. We are right now at 73 degrees in Amarillo. We will likely be getting a spot here or there of snow Tuesday, but that is it for this week anyway. We have been hovering around in the 50's all week. Although, 5 or so years ago, we got 20 " within a day right after Christmas. So, there are no guarantees you'd never have snow here. BUT, it doesn't cost as much to live here!!!
