You are right, Margot! The g-f bakery goods at Global Blends are delicious. My absolute favorite is the lemon chiffon cake. It is so light and fluffy - just like a chiffon cake should be - no one would ever know that it did not have regular flour in it. The banana nut bread is wonderful, too. I love going there!!

You can also buy Mike Goff's "I Can Eat That" bread there and also his pizza crust. Mike also makes trays of dinner rolls for me that are so good, you think you are eating house rolls. We bake a tray of them every single Sunday for dinner. If anyone is interested in buying these dinner rolls, just let him know and he'll do it for you, too. I special-order request these, and I order six trays at a time.

Hi y'all,

Am enjoying the recent activity on the list.

Just wanted to share with the folks who recently moved

to the area my love of the gf and dairy free blueberry

muffins at Global Blends (Castro Street, MV) and their

sandwiches that are really very good.

I've been looking for a while for gf and dairy free

"power" bars. I found ricebars at Molly Stones (California

Street, PA) who now have a small section of GF foods

(mostly cookies, cereals, breakfast bars), but these

have very little protein.

Anyone with ideas? Or perhaps even better, anyone

with a good recipe for protein rich gf and dairy free

"power bars".

Cheers, Margot

Lara Bars

www.larabar.com

makes gluten free, dairy free bars. I like the cherry pie

one, which tastes just like a cherry pie made with a nut crust. The

bars are just nuts and fruit, nothing strange in them. Nutrition

facts copied here. There are other flavors. You can buy them

at Whole Foods. The nice folks at the company sent a bunch of these

bars to the celiac walk-a-thon, so you can ask others what they

think.

Global Blends is at 650 Castro Street in Mt. View, California. Their phone no. is (650) 254-1110. They usually have lots of g-f goodies at the counter: chocolate cake, banana nut bread, lemon chiffon cake, coffeecake, etc. However, you may want to call first before visiting to make sure that there are g-f goodies available - they go very fast. It is absolutely wonderful to have a great cup of coffee and enjoy a muffin or a piece of cake or nut bread like everyone else does.

The bars at the Stanford celiac conference were from Orgran at

www.orgran.com

.. I liked them. I had a case of them sent to me ahead of the

conference and it sat by my desk, and when I got hungry and had nothing

around to eat, I'd eat one of them. They were very handy for that,

filling and tasty. Great for travel or just to keep in the car or

in the desk for those times when your only choice looks like potato

chips.

I copied some info below from their website.

Orgran Fruit Filled Bars

The Orgran Fruit Filled bars are wheat & gluten free and made from

all natural ingredients.

Available in three delicious flavours, Blueberry, Apricot, and Choc

Cherry the Orgran Fruit Filled bars combine the goodness of sunripened

fruit with protein rich pulses to achieve a high fibre, nutritional

snack. Baked to perfection and filled with real fruit you can be sure of

a guilt free treat. Great as a lunch box treat!

Orgran Fruit Filled Blueberry Bar - 98% Fat free

Orgran Choc Cherry Fruit Filled Bars - 97% Fat free

We got some interesting and high

COnference- I wish I could remember the name, but they had dried fruit

(blueberry) inside, and a chickpea flour covering that made them quite

hearty. Can anyone help me out with the name?

I can't stand the envirokidz cereal bars, unfortunately. I recently

tried Lara's banana cookie power bar, and it was very... fruity. More

like a condensed fruit leather bar than a cookie or a power bar, but

if you know that going in, they're pretty healthy. Too bad about the

price!
