Guest guest
I am just starting out on this diet I was diagnosed with UC 20 years ago and was in remission This year it came back with a vengance....I have gone thru several test and the doctor thinks I was misdiagnosed years ago and that I have Crohn's Disease. I was taking asacol which helped for about 2 weeks and then they put me on prednisone that helped but once off the prednisone the symptoms came back with a vengance. The doctor took me off asacol and now I am back on predniose. I currently feel great(except for the side affect of the pred.) I have done the starter part of this diet for the past 2 days. It says to stay on it until diarhea gets better...since I am not dealing with that would it be safe for me to add other foods??? and what can you add at first???does it need to be one food at a time??? Would love to figure some new foods out before starting back at work on Tuesday. I love salads and fruits just don't know how quickly I can add them. I would love to get off this prednisone asap... I am currently taking 10 mg down from 40 to start...would like to taper off to zero..
Guest guest
I would still go slowly. Fresh fruit and salads may be too rough on the system. Have you seen the pecanbread.com stages? They area good guide. It is a website for kids with ASD and they don't use cow's milk, but you can have legal SCD yogurt and cheeses. One reason for problems on SCD is advancing too fast. For work, I would try sliced chicken, beef, and some cooked fruits and vegetables to start with. If you are OK with eggs, hard boiled eggs are good too.
