Guest guest
They always mess up the zinc test. It needs a special tube, special handling. I've never met a lab tech yet who believes me when I ask them to please look it up in the book. Next day, call back. Something happened to your specimen, come back for redraw. BUT the labs next door to Dr Oh & Dr Fox DO know how to draw them, so we drive a lil further to only do it once. Big nuisance. But zinc is a regularly checked item for us. Both Don & I have had stable levels since we reached the correct level of supplementation FOR US. My 200mg is way more than Don needs. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
Lozenges are a different animal, though. They sorta release slowly and don't just dump a wad at once. They're usually 15-23mg. Once you get your labs, you can see what is missing. In the meantime, I can send you a list of which labs we have drawn if it helps guide your doc. Every now & then my PCP gets uppity and thinks we don't need this or that because the levels are stable. Stable today, gone tomorrow is what I always tell him. It was hard enough to teach him that my marginal B12 was not stable if it started at 1800 and " now " was at 300, no longer HOW long it took to get there. He's pretty good, and interested in our surgery, though. We got him in 99 with an insurance change, and gave him a sketch, our op reports and current labs at the time. Since then, I refer others of " us " to him. He told me once that he had to see Other Kinds of People, too. Why? I think he likes birthin' them babies more than us. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
I was told that in order to have my zinc level checked I had to be OFF the zinc for at least a week. does this sound reasonable to you? Guest guest
My zinc test alone cost $907, over three times what ALL of the rest of the blood work cost. Because my numbers were nice last time, I personally have decided to have this one run only every other year. But, I seem to remember something about zinc not normally being tested because it's a very expensive test, or something like that. Someone on here may remember. But, I'm a firm believer in zinc lozenges. Every time I feel a cold coming on, I start on the Cold-Eeze, every 2-3 hours, and within a day, it kills the cold!
