Guest guest
, you are getting there. It seems like forever but before you know it- the weeks have passed. You are alot further along than I am but I know how you feel with the bands and work. I went back to work a week after surgery and no one understood me. You get use to it and sometimes people have good hearts and dont make you answer the phone at all. I LOVED that! Hang in there- Hope you get back to normal soon! > Just checking in to see how the June crew is doing. Guest guest
Hi Stranger! How was your trip to Louisiana? It must feel good to finally have your kids back home. Sorry about the bands. I can just imagine how frustrating that must be. I saw my ortho today for the first time post-op. He saw how my jaw still wants to go to the left so he changed the configuration of my bands. They are mediums though so I can still open my mouth pretty easily. I can take them out to eat and for PT but otherwise I'm supposed to wear them 24/7. I brought pictures of my joints. Everyone at my ortho's office thought they were really cool. Most had never seen them before. Even though my ortho does a lot of surgical cases, I'm the first patient of his to get artificial joints. I was finally liberated from my surgical hooks after getting them in April. My mouth feels so good now. There is still a lot of ortho work to be done. I have about three teeth touching on the left now but none on the right. My ortho put a bunch of step-ups (or step downs, I can't remember exactly what he called them) to bring the rest of my teeth together. Neither he nor my OS will tell me how much longer they think I might need my braces. Oh well, at least they offer a family discount when I start going with in a few years. Yesterday I finally found my butter pecan Boost again. Yay! Now I can " eat " at work again. For the last few weeks, I was losing 2-3 lb everytime I worked a few shifts in a row because I just can't stomach anymore chocolate or strawberry Boost. There's never any time to run to the cafeteria for some soup or to heat any up so Boost is really the only thing I have time for. Sorry you're still caboosing along but we're getting there. Now it'll be a race to see who can get their braces off first. The end is in sight! minirascal- (who no longer has a bloody mouth!) > Just checking in to see how the June crew is doing. Guest guest
Hi there!! I cant believe its been this long already since our surgeries! And time is flying...I have like no time to come on this site now. Maybe once my college schedule gets going and stuff I will be able to check in on here more often! Everything is going very well since my June 14th surgery. I went to the orthodontist at about 6 weeks post op and he took off my heavy wires and hooks and did not give me any rubber bands at all. I was also released from my surgeon for good at that time also. I still have some slight numbness on my chin and in my gums. The part on my chin also hurts even though it doesnt have full feeling..thats my worst pain right now. Its weird. I can chew pretty much everything again, but only on my left side. I can barely chew a thing on the right because of the sensitivity (i think from the numbness on that side). I have ate quite a few burgers(small) and pizza and it is great to bite straight into something. I cant open my mouth real wide yet so I have to watch what I eat as far as that goes. I go back to the orthodontist again tomorrow so we will see what he says then. I am overall thrilled with the surgery and results though. It is so nice not to worry about it anymore. I also have much more confidence at work as a dance teacher looking in the mirror 24/7 now too!!! I will post pics from my vacation to Panama city beach, FL last week on here for all to see the end (almost end) results!!! ~, June 14th upper, lower, genio > Just checking in to see how the June crew is doing.
