Guest guest
That is so cool Jacque. I was lucky - I had a friend that was a telephone operator at the Pentagon during Vietnam. She had weekend duty once every 6 weeks and I would phone her and she would patch me through to my hubby of less than one year. It was really neat back then - she called Calif and they patched her through to someplace like Hawaii who patched her through to Japan and finally he got on the line in Vietnam. He was a Corpsman (Medic). One time I heard terrible noise and asked what was happening - he said the VC were bombing the Navy Hosp (where he was) - he said he was sitting under the desk so he could talk to me. God Bless him. Amber/FL OT Politics I am getting to talk to Fred nearly every morning by IM on the military network. It makes my entire day go so much better. He sent me a picture on Thanksgiving, taken with a live turkey that I have no idea how they got it there, but it is the unit mascot now. I will share it with whoever wants to see it by private mail. Did everyone see the deal Bush did on Thanksgiving? We all thought he was sitting on the ranch in Texas, and in reality, he was in Afghanistan. I know it was re-election thing, but I still think it was pretty cool. The troops all went nuts over it! Ok, I'm done now. Guest guest
Bush did what other war time presidents have done, and that is visit the troops. It is a moral booster for them, but politically, of greater value during a re-election campaign. He is politically vulnerable due to his initiating the war in Iraq, not finding any weapons of mass destruction, the daily deaths of soldiers due to terrorism and so a " feel good " photo-op like his trip to Iraq will be invaluable to his re-election campaign. Guest guest
Hi Folks, I know the subject line says OT, but please lets not get into a political discussion. It's against list rules, and even when it says OT, we all know what hot buttons it can push. Thank you! in NJ (putting her moderator hat away)

Guest guest
I brought it up, and I am sorry. I did not mean to start any political discussions. But my husband's well being affects my mental health, and my mental health affects my physical health, and I need the support of my FRIENDS right now. If your are not my friend, ignore me. He had to get into what we laughingly call " high speed bumper cars " yesterday with some Afghani militants. He had to take them out in the middle of a minefield. If my sharing offends you, hit the delete button. Then I will do the same when you whine about your TT. My life doesn't revolve around what sags. My life revolves around who is coming home to me. I sag, but he loves me anyway. If that is still offensive, I'll just sign off of this list. Jac http://www.pictureitdigitaldesigns.com/ http://members.cox.net/XXXFARMPAINTS mail to: jholdaway@... Sorry if I offended anyone but I don't understand why we have to argue about a universally known politeness. Sometimes we need to take a step back from an online group if we get overly sensitive when someone reminds us of this. It may not have even been about the original post but the posts after. These things just tend to grow legs and cause hard feelings and it is why it's best just not to go there. Guest guest
Jac, my request to cool it about the political discussions was NOT referring to your post. I can't believe I go away for a couple of days, and people aren't even reading WHEN my post was written, which was right after someone else posted a potentially flammable political post. I'm looking at the string of posts after Jac's, and COME ON people, did you all not see what it was referring to??? I totally agree that Jac's posts are not political and she and Tara and all our other " family " members who have husbands and wives and daughters and sons in dangerous situations need and deserve our support, and it in no way is a statement of political opinion. OK, maybe now I'm being overly sensitive, but I don't like being misunderstood or even indirectly accused of insensitivity, because nothing could be further from the truth. in NJ *********************** > I brought it up, and I am sorry. Guest guest
I know, and thanks Terry. It was all a misunderstanding, and it's over now. And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming... Hugs, in NJ *********************** > , > > I just wrote to you privately, but I also wanted to say that my post wasn't directed towards you.
