Guest guest
There are several on this list who are very knowledgeable about military family support. The one that comes FIRST to my mind is Tara. She is a well of information, and has helped me very much. Of course, I am very thankful to everyone. I am very emotional right now. I spent 23 years in law enforcement and was used to being in control. Now, I feel totally out of control and don't know how to deal with that. I have plenty to keep me busy. I have a home business and a farm to run. It's just the NOT KNOWING that terrifies me. And then I spin out. To anyone I have offended, I truly apologize. I depend on this list for my support, and for the opportunity to vent. I don't know what I would do without all of you. Order a BRAT 2004 calendar today at: http://www.basenjirescue.org/calendarcontest/ as I learned of the plight of many reservists and their families on TV news programs, not the least of which included loss of a family business because the absent reservist was the mainstay of the business, I wondered if there were avenues for us here to assist families with every day life management issues. Things like help with managing family finances, writing to creditors, minor household repairs, and other things that frazzled families have trouble coping with. Is anybody on this list aware of organizations that offer such volunteer opportunities? When I was in the Naval Reserve some 40 years ago there was an organization with a name like Navy Aid, but I just do not know what is around these days. I care about you, Jac, and I care about all the other Service families that have been riven by world events. Any suggestions that you have as to how I and others might help out are more than welcome. --Steve Homepage: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG Unsubscribe: mailto:Graduate-OSSG-unsubscribe
Guest guest
Sweetie - what you are going through is very high on the " stress scale " and as such, you have every right to obtain the support you need from anyone who you can obtain comfort from. Having grown up as an Air Force brat, then marrying a career Navy man - I have endured a lifetime of separations, loneliness and fear. I understand the fear of not knowing - can your hubby use e-mail?? I understand so many can these days. Back in the late 60s, early 70s that was not an option and letters took weeks to arrive and the fear was always in the back of your mind about what has happened in-between. Do you live near the base? All have military wives clubs and they are helpful. Also there are support systems at the military chaplains offices. If you need the support of an Army wife whose hubby just returned from Iraq - my daughter-in-law's sister would be happy to e-mail you and offer support. She is an older gal - so many are just 20 - she is in her 30's and has had her hubby in both the last two areas of action. Let me know how I can help you and you will have it!!
