Guest guest
I know with my daughter her first band didn't quite fit right and when they made us a new one, they decided her velcro was on the wrong side of her head and switched it. But I also know (my baby was a brachy baby) that some spots just weren't going to fill in as easily as other spots did. But overall when she finished I thought her head looked tons better, so we were happy! Good luck. www.leopardorpolkadots.blogspot.com
Guest guest
Yup. We had the same concern around the same point in time. They kept shaving the helmet there and I kept asking why they did it all the way to the edge. There is nothing holding it away from the baby's head so it can't fill in that area. I kept saying they needed to leave an edge unshaved to create a void. The techs just say that it doesn't hold that firmly and the head will just push it out. Instead I think we have a worse flat spot there in the exact shape of the band. It also seems like her head is starting to bulge right over the ear in the gap in the band under the velcro. It's not just soft tissue. The tech says that was always there and claims she can feel it on the head mold. I think she's either crazy or lying. I'm frustrated and not sure if I should just take it off. This thing costs too much for it to only work well for the first 6-8 weeks. > > My LO is 9 months old and he's been in his DOC band for 7 weeks. I feel like the band is restricting his head growth at the holding point on the plagio side of his head (near the velcro). The spot that I'm referring to is above and slightly behind his ear and it is a spot that needs to fill-in in order for us to get good correction. > > Has anyone else had this problem? > > Thank you. >
Guest guest
edpsp, Which CT do you go to? We go to the Paramus location and our clinician is . (Just curious whether we could possibly have the same clinician.) I've raised the issue at every adjustment that we've had so far, and she always says the same thing - " the helmet needs to hold onto something and it's not restricting growth there, the head should still grow in that area. " But I really do feel like it's creating a worse flat spot in that particular area. It almost looks like there's a bit of a divot in that spot. Anyone else have experience with this? Thanks. > > > > My LO is 9 months old and he's been in his DOC band for 7 weeks. Guest guest
We're also going there, but with a different clinician. They say the same sort of thing except now we're hearing things like " what if it doesn't get better? It's never going to be perfect? " I didn't think it would be perfect, but I did expect the helmet wouldn't make it worse. Yes, the band needs to hold somewhere. However it should be holding on the high points, not where the head needs to fill in. So, it doesn't make any sense for the helmet to be shaved at the edge of the opening or for the opening to be placed where the baby needs growth.
