Guest guest
Hi All, I just wanted to post to all my surgery buddies that my OD informed me today that my Orthognathic journey is almost complete. He is hoping to take my braces off by Christmas! Wow, what a great present if this hopes hold up! He stated that hopefully by next month we will be able to schedule an appointment to take the braces off. Also I had my first dental cleaning last week post op and my dentist was so happy with the results of my surgery. He stated he has never seen nothing like it. He even had to give me a big hug because he was so pleased! Yahoooo, my toughest critic, my dentist, has given me the thumbs up!! So all you post opers out there & those waiting for surgery, I can say yes there is an end to this long journey we have all embarked on! The light at the end of the tunnel is closer than you think! Hang in There!!! Now for all my June buddies, the caboose is moving to the head of the train..(haha) I will keep you all posted if I get what I want for Christmas this year! These braces off!!!!! Guest guest
Hey Caboose!!! That's GREAT news!! I'm so pleased for you!! That must have been a pleasant surprise hearing that the braces were coming off sooner than expected. I just saw my OD last week and he said that fingers crossed I should get all my braces off on Nov 8th. Eeeeep!! I'm trying not to keep up my hopes too much because just in case he doesn't take them off I don't want to be too disappointed. We're basically waiting on one tooth on the top to move a little more forward. Other than that everything looks in tip top shape. I now have brackets only on 12 teeth, basically the front 6 on the top and bottom. Let me tell you, taking off the metallic brackets on the bottom was a walk in the park but getting the top ceramic ones was painful as hell!!! I'd forgotten about that! The glue they use to put on ceramic ones is apparently a lot tougher and he had to use what pretty much looked like a wench. Ugh. But it was worth it although my teeth were sore after. I also went were for my first teeth cleaning since the surgery and my dentist was super pleased too. I must say I'm most anxious to get these braces off so I can bleach my teeth white again. The mouthwash I used after the surgery has stained my teeth yellow and I hate the way I look when I smile. How is school coming along? I'm trying to settle back in Italy and have managed to find a freelance consulting project workwise which allows me enough time travel back and forth with the US. I hope this orthognathic surgery is soon over though because my body is seriously tired of all the travelling. How are your folks in New Orleans?? Sending you a huge hug Caboose! And you sure moved forward in the train line!!! You deserved to!!!
