Guest guest
Hi All, I have been on here for more then a yr...had upper and genio last august (04), with hardware put in permanently (well supposed to be), that I somehow pushed out a screw (upper) and resulted in LOTS of pain. So, surgery #2 May '05 to take out all the upper hardware and screws...went well...felt SO much better after they were out and I healed. And then... I have had some phantom pains in and around my sinus areas...so went for a check-actually bec my new DDS said my upper teeth were moving when I bit, so he wanted a check up before I got the cosemtic things done... I was cleared --- all looked good----from the outside. But at this point the pain was sporadic at best and nothing INTENSE that stopped my focusing on other things. A few days later, BIG pain started, I felt poufy on one side, but didn't really LOOK it, and had more numbing there than days before ....mostly when I went camping is when it got really pronounced. Hitting the sudden big change of temperature -the pains felt like a BAD sinus infection, but no bad signs like discolored mucus etc-so I came home and called just to see. I was still getting pains but we had hit a cold spell suddently here too, so thinking personally, it's change of season, I have allergies this time of yr and my sinuses were always a challenge so....but I went in to double check, bec hay-this is my HEALTH for teh long haul. My OS, is " moderately " concerned about my healing...he worries that my bones may not be healing together correctly since the last surgery where we removed the hardware (one of the screws had to be " dug out " bec my bone had grown OVER it even so it was intense) and GOD HELP ME, if this is the case, correction is to PUT THEM BACK IN, that's right, step 1 all over again. *I can't even consider this right now, because it's COMPLETELY overwhelming, personally, professionally, financially, etc* so Monday (19th)was the catscan to see inside, which I think was a great idea...but holy crap! My bite is shifting, no pain when I chew or bite down, but the upper jaw/teeth hurt enough of the time and lower, HA, my teeth even wearing the retainer for HOURS on end are moving badly too...and I can't do the Permanent retainer for the lowers UNTIL I do the cosemtic stuff. I think I will push to move that up to save the lowers...in place. (all this after 13 yrs of braces growing up AND an accident yrs ago that resulted in a broken lower jaw in 2 places and then doing one last round of correction...or maybe not?!) I am just upset that the lowers are shifting almost more then the pain, guess bec I can't even think about 'possibilities' yet. Anyone been though anything like this? HELP please...I would love some calming solice about my situation...I need a lift and positive information folks...thanks, worried, but dealing JO
