It's really great that you are able to have this type of

communication w/ your providers. I think this would be a great idea

for all. I've been told that this is a team approach, but my team is

never together. I know that I will learn as I go along, but I have a

ton of questions. Good luck to you!!

Hi ,

I'm happy to hear everyone's communicating now. You must feel so

much better. Yay, the Caboose is finally coming along! How much

longer do you have to wear the bands? I've got my bands on until the

25th at the very least which is when I see my ortho. My jaw still

pulls over to the left even with two heavy bands but I'm hoping once

my teeth come together better, my jaw will slide back into place.

Right now, everything feels so awkward because no matter where my

jaw is, only a few teeth touch.

I just came back from PT. I think I'm almost done, only a week or

two left. I still can't get past 23 mm but that's always been my

maximum opening even pre-op. I am getting to 23 much easier though

and started off at 20 mm before any stretching which is a huge

improvement over even a week ago.

So I read that you discovered Gerber's Hawaiian Delight. That was my

husband's favorite when the kids were little. One spoonful for

, one spoonful or two for Daddy! I think he bought them just

for himself.

Enjoy that vacation from the dentist and ortho!

Yes, the caboose is finally chugging along!!

I really have no clue how much longer I will have the bands on. I go

back to my OS on the 16th of June. The tight configuration he has

these bands in right now seems to be bringing the jaws back together

to the way it was right after surgery. My OD wants to see me within

days after the OS releases me because he agrees with my OS that right

now is the open window since everything is still soft from surgery

which allows movement of the teeth/jaws easier.

With the 3 tight bands on, my jaw is not going anywhere. I am sure

if I had only 2 bands on it would shift right back. It will be

interesting to see when they are taken off what happens.

That's great that you are almost done with PT. I would imagine at

this point you can just keep up the exercises at home. This is how I

felt last summer after 3 months of PT for my knee.

I wish I had a vacation from my OS and OD..I sent my OD an e-mail and

showed him what Diane's OD gave her. So I told him I can't wait for

my bottle of wine when I go back to see him..(haha)

Your hubby has great taste! He knows his Gerber entree's..(haha) I

will send him some if I have any left over..(haha)

Have a Great Weekend!

Hi ,

That's great that your jaw is moving back to where it should be.

You're going back to your OS on June 16? Ten months of bands???

Haha. Only kidding. I know what you meant. Let's hope it's not 10

months of bands.

I didn't get any wine from my OD either. Oh well, but being in

the " buckle " of the bible belt (as my husband calls it) someone

somewhere would have gotten offended to see my OD giving out wine to

his patients. But still, after all this time, I think I deserve

some. Ha-ha. Seriously though, I can't complain. My OD and OS have

been wonderful and very generous to me. I got my braces on while I

was still active duty so they were paid for by the Air Force. When I

got out of the military and started seeing my current ortho 6 1/2

years ago, he only charged me $1200 to maintain my braces. He

thought most of the work was done already and I would just need

minor adjustments before and after my orthognathic surgery. Little

did we both know. I paid off the $1200 years ago but after my OD

found out I would need the joint replacements, I got a check from

his office for $250 because of a " clerical " error saying that after

reviewing their books, they had overcharged me. They didn't but I

think they did it because they know that all these surgeries and

time off work have really hurt us financially. My OS has given us a

lot of breaks, too. I really appreciate them for doing that. All in

all, I think I got the best bargain with my braces. How can you beat

$950 for 9 years of braces? He won't but I wouldn't blame my OD if

he refused to take on my daughter (my clone) as a patient in a few

years.

Glad to see you chugging along. Have a great weekend!
