I'm not sure if it's a stomach thing, or just that when he gets coughing hard (croupy sounding) he vomits. I've seen this in other RSS children but at the moment I'm trying to figure out what to do for him. He had been over his bug for about 10 days. Then he went sleding with his father and brothers. The exertion just sent him back to square one. Wah!!! Poor guy. He threw up last night and then this morning. Plus a fever and a horrible cough. So, my question is, is their a " Huh Duh " on recovery time for our little guys. My older two had the same thing Connor did and have not relapsed. I hate being the bad ass mommy to Connor, but when you relapse this hard after a 10 day recovery, I think I need to know what to tell him when he wants to do the " normal kid " thing. Ah...normal...that elusive state of being that we on the RSS list serve only get once a year at convention. Up till this time we've been very sucessful at keeping Connor healthy. Mind you we were practically quarantined...but it worked. Now that he's in school ( germs) and riding a bus, (more germs) and his daddy is back on the road (germs from all over the state) he's certainly getting sicker this winter than before. So, is there any RSS wisdom out there for recovery time on our kids? Thanks for your input! Guest guest
, I think at least with Alyssa it takes about 2 weeks before she can do heavy exertion activities. After Alyssa is completely symptom free from a cold for a week she is usually ready for regular stuff. Of course she is a girl so regular stuff involves ballet class, preschool and playing with her toys! She's not really that rowdy in the first place! But, I don't take her outside for 2 weeks. The extra exertion just seems to be too much. I imagine it can be different with boys! I'm sure their idea of active is Alyssa's idea of crazy! (My best friend has boys! You are stronger women than I!) :-) Sledding would send her right back into a cold for sure. Alyssa still sometimes vomits with the croupy like cough as well. Currently she has had a nasty cold since 3 days after Super Bowl Sunday (thank you company for bringing your sick kids!). She has vomited upon waking during a coughing fit the last two mornings. (there go those darn calories). She is hardly eating and she's just been pitiful. Her 1 yr old sister got the same thing the same day, and she is much better. It's like Alyssa stays in the worst day 4 days instead of one and it takes twice as long to get better. Thank goodness for her tube! At least now a cold doesn't usually send us to the hospital and she doesn't get sick NEARLY as often now that she has good nutrition! I hope he feels better soon!
