Guest guest
Hi, My son is now 15-- but in K-5. We had issues with the bathroom door he could not open or reach the handle their solution a bathroom buddie. No Way he will get in trouble because the 2 of them will be goofing around. I had them put a handle lower so he could be independent. They also ordered a chair for his desk because at his school they do everything in groups of 4. In 6th grade when he was in HomeEc all the kitchens had step stools because I did not want just Chris's kicthen having one they found everyone used them. Also remember the school usually get more $ from the state for IEP's. One thing I learn was use their language go back to an old IEP and read it use the words on it. Or as a friend said use $10 words- independent, social setting, remind them that more comfortable any student is the easier it is for the teacher to teach. With the whole class had a healthy snack at 10 am. Hope this is helpful, Dale mom to Mike 21 and 15 (RSS)
