My acupuncturist told me to make green onion/ginger tea to abort a

cold. You take 6-8 green onions (and it must be green, not mature

ones), chop up including all the green parts that are not wilted, and put

in a small pan with a chunk about an inch long of fresh ginger, sliced

up. Cover with water, like a cup and a half or so, and simmer 20

minutes. Then drink some now and some later. It does seem to

help though I've found there's a kitchen gremlin that makes sure I don't

always have green onions right then.

However, I have another recommendation if you get frequent colds. When I

started the diet last year I literally had a cold at least 4 days of

every week, with some flu episodes for variety. Someone on the list

here told me I was a very good candidate for LDN and I started that a

year ago tomorrow. Almost immediately it perked up my immune system

because I get far fewer colds and when I do, it's only for maybe a half

hour, or a couple hours at most. It's very interesting, in a way, to be

all stuffed up, eyes streaming, coughing, etc for a little while

(and I always think uh oh, here I go for a week) and then it suddenly

disappears. It's taken until now to start getting other good

effects from the LDN but boy, I'd take it just for the immune help.

Something to consider.

I thought people might be interested in trying this during the

upcoming cold

season.

Mix 1/4 tsp cinnamon with 1 tsp honey and eat it off a spoon.

I found out about it here:

http://www.healthhomehappy.com/2010/09/honey-and-cinnamon-a-simple-cold-home-remedy-that-kids-love.html

It really tasted like strong cinnamon but it was still very easy to

take. I'm on my second cold in the past 3 weeks and testing out a

bunch of

cold remedies to see if anything helps. This cinnamon one surprised

me.

I've heard ginger tea, lemon juice in water, and raw garlic (each

separately) can help and try to include those when sick. Anyone have

other

SCD-legal things they have tried for colds that work?

I get a killer cough every winter (usually end up with some codeine cough

medicine it's that bad), but last winter, while on SCD, I mixed ground ginger

into honey and ate it- I swear it worked!!!
