Guest guest
, If you let the concentrator run and just remove the cannula when you are sitting, try not to let the cannula sit on upholstred funiture or pillows. I was told that the oxygen would saturate the upholstry and it would become super flamable, and a slight spark could set it on fire. I don't know if that is true, but I am sure someone on here will know and will speak up. Marcia
Guest guest
Marcia The furniture in any of our houses is going to be overly saturated with oxygen in all probability. Letting the cannula sit as you describe would certainly contribute toward that. So a spark that under normal conditions might or might not set a piece of furniture on fire under normal conditions would be far more likely to. In practicality almost all circumstances of this happening have been the results of cigarettes. Certainly a fireplace spark or a candle could do the same. But, statistics that I've previously found show an overwhelming percentage of fires involving the use of home oxygen were started by cigarettes. Smoking in bed of course the worst of those situations. I personally cannot believe anyone with PF would allow persons to smoke in their home for health reasons to start with. But, certainly, this is another very strong reason not to. > > , If you let the concentrator run and just remove the cannula when you are sitting, try not to let the cannula sit on upholstred funiture or pillows.
