I had never checked my 02 while walking outside and not having oxygen..but that did it. Joyce R AZ birds
Guest guest
Peggy I am on liquid.;.l..My supplier would give me the 02 and a long tube but my instructor said it would not work. It would interfer with the classes movements. The students couldn't get around the tube. It would not due she said. Joyce R AZ birds
Guest guest
Joyce, Unfortunately there are people who are just not going to understand. Even with oxygen we all get more fatigued than people without lung disease. Our bodies are working harder and we feel fatigue faster. The main thing is you understand that and don't push beyond your own limits. You can't make others understand, you can tell them, share information but whether they ever truly 'get it' is up to them. The up side of your question is that it is likely that you actually will feel better once your thyroid situation is under better control and you have the right balance of medication. Extreme fatigue is one of the most prominent symptoms of hypothyroidism. So don't give up on feeling better because it's likely there are better days ahead. I took off my oxygen and walked from my house to my mail box and then to my car...it's really short distance. Got in my car and sat and found my Oxymeter and it was at 80. Since I had been sitting for a minute ir two I think my stats went into the 70's...I was not waling fast...so there is no way it is safe for me to be jumping around doing intense exercise in the water. I just cannot swim. Period. Also I have a question. I went with friends to lunch and then we went looking in Dillards and we were walking about an hour and I was getting so fatigued i had to ask them to leave with me because I was driving. My friend told my other friend the reason I got fatigued is because of my thyroid. How do you explain to people tht it is not because of something else it is because of the fact that your lungs are crap..l.they think because you have Oxygen you should be alble to just tootle all over for as long as anyone else who is fine...it frustrates me and it makes me angry and nuts. Guest guest
Joyce, have you ask your oxygen supplier for an E tank with cart.. that and a 50 foot hose and your good to go. I'm sorry I missed what kind of 02 tanks you are using. I have done about anything I wanted until this past six months or so.Don't EVER give up. Guest guest
Joyce, When I go in my sisters pool I have used a child's floating pool seat to hold an D tank while I swim. Something like this: http://www.coolpooldeals.com/kieferfloatingbabyseat.aspx Just something to think about. Guest guest
that's a tough one to answer how do you explain to people you just tell them what you told us your on o2 because your lungs are bad and you tire easily also the thyroid thing can make you tired, so you have a double whammy that's what you can tell them plus when i carry my oxygen, i get tired faster than when i wheel it in a stroller or a shopping car the heavy container makes me tired Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: No swimming without oxygenTo: Breathe-support Date: Friday, January 15, 2010, 6:28 PM OK I give up.. Guest guest
Joyce Actually if you want to do it, your instructor has to make it work. There is no reasonable reason not to and you're protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act for them to make reasonable accommodations. Now, it's probably not worth having just a conflict for you, but if it was then thats the case. > > Peggy I am on liquid.;.l..My supplier would give me the 02 and a long tube > but my instructor said it would not work. Guest guest
Joyce, If you oxygen sats drop quite a bit, with the oxygen on and you have an oximeter, maybe you can have them put the oximeter on and walk around fast and see where there sats are and then you put it on with your oxygen and show them your sats and then explain to them, and also tell them that if you oxygen sats stayed up like their's did you could keep up.
