Basically, that is right. It is actually prescribed to people with

irritable bowel syndrome. So, the hopes for us is that it will help

to not gag and spit up anymore and that it will also help with

his constipation. In Dr. H.'s words, " It will help to keep things

moving a little better. " And, like you said, it helps the stomach

empty faster/better. I think this is a fairly new thing she is trying

with the kids that have delayed emptying that are spitters and gaggers,

not able to hold things down.

Jodi R gave a good explanation. I know that other GIs are using it all over the

country. I

believe Meribeth's son TJ is on it and I know of a few others. It was actually

our GI who put

Max on Zelnorm, but Dr.H. had suggested it before that. Since Cisapride is no

longer

being made, they had to come up with something to replace it and Zelnorm is the

drug of

choice.
