PJ,

Usually Macrobid ( long acting Nitrofurantoin) 100mg twice a day for 3 days usually does the trick. Only six doses usually does it. If you are still having symptoms after that you can continue for another 6 doses and plenty of cranberry juice and water.

Terry,

Thanks. By noon I was feeling pretty bad- lightheaded and a few chills-and knew

that this was getting worse. In fact, I think I had been fighting it for some

time and may have accounted for my feeling bad last week. Fortunately the NP who

saw me was willing to brainstorm with me on the best for UTI, and least

traumatic antibiotic for the gut- and Macrobid was the one. I would have been

willing to wait with just the burning sensation, but with other symptoms knew I

had better get on it quick.

On the brighter side I also got an x ray of my finger while I was there and

there is no arthritis- yay- the joint looked fine.

Hopefully on the mend now. Eating lots of SCD yogurt.

Thanks,

PJ
