Guest guest
i have a bit of the same issue although it's miles better than before the surgery, I really can't complain. my doctors have told me that the braces still prevent me from closely my lips perfectly together. not sure how true this is but i get my bottom brackets off in 10 days so i'll let you know if that makes a difference. I'm 3 months and 2 weeks post op and almost all residual swelling has gone, minus some puffiness in my cheekbone area. Guest guest
Me too! My lips were supposed to fit together after the surgery, but seven weeks after they are still apart, in a different way but still not close to coming together. I was going to ask my surgeon why when I see him next week. > Prior to surgery, I suffered from a class 3 open bite, and lip > incompetence -- i.e. in a 'resting' state, my lower jaw simply hung > open...not by much...maybe a centimeter or so...I could of > course 'hold' it closed, but when i did that, it always looked a > little bit like I was clenching my lower chin/jaw (which I was!) > > Anyway, that was one of the things my upper LeFort and lower surgeries > (Aug. 1) were supposed to fix. Guest guest
Sara and I had our surgeries within days of eachother, and I'm still having the same issue as well. I can close my lips now and make it look like I'm not forcing them closed, but only when I really concentrate on it. At rest, my lips are approximately 2 mm apart, when before they were *alot* more. I have noticed though, that the more time that goes on, the easier it is getting, even if it is just a hair at a time. I just saw my surgeon last week and he said that the braces off should take care of about a mm or so. I hope this helps. > > Prior to surgery, I suffered from a class 3 open bite, and lip > > incompetence -- i.e. in a 'resting' state, my lower jaw simply > hung > > open...not by much...maybe a centimeter or so...I could of > > course 'hold' it closed, but when i did that, it always looked a > > little bit like I was clenching my lower chin/jaw (which I was!) > > > > Anyway, that was one of the things my upper LeFort and lower > surgeries > > (Aug. 1) were supposed to fix.
