I had my lower jaw moved forward 9mm on friday afternoon. just wondering if anyone else finds the bands a complete nightmare - not being able to open ur mouth and the pressure of your teeth together actually causing discomfort and pain?? and dont you just all crave things like pizza, crisps, chips, meat, potatoes, chewing gum and anything else thats not liquid! ahhh driving me crazy and its only been one week!! havent been out the house yet (apart from leaving hospital and going in the garden) as im still really quite swollen. i look like a hamster and my entire chin and neck is yellow. its really weird though because only half my lower face is numb!! anyway was just wondering if anyone wanted a chat or whatever! if you havent had ur surgery yet I would be very happy to fill you in. ask anything!! Guest guest
Hey Amy! I'm Ashlee and I had the same exact surgery, only mine was moved forward 8mm. I'm 6 weeks post-op. I was wired shut for 4 weeks and then banded shut for 2 weeks (I get them off tomorrow!). I did go a bit crazy, especially during the first week. I cried at Pizza Hut and Mc's commercials! The liquid diet was the hardest part for me to get used to, but eventually it got easier to watch people around me eating. You'll find it easier to deal with too, I promise! You sound so upbeat and cheerful. That's a great way to go through recovery! Best Wishes, Ash
