Guest guest
Hi , I had upper/lower/genio 3 years ago this month. I have pictures posted on site 2 at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/orthognathicsurgerysite2 under Fiddlesticks folder. You'll have to join to see the photos there. I didn't do any of this for cosmetic reasons, although there was definitely big cosmetic change. I was ok with my looks before surgery, and I'm ok with them now. It's the functional change that was important for me. External changes will depend on the amount of movement required. Some people have very little external change, others have lots. > Hello, > > I have a gummy smile and I'm " supposed " to have upper and lower jaw > surgery. Guest guest
I too had upper and lower jaw surgery for a bad underbite and after the surgery i was pretty dissapointed with how my nose looked. Since the upper jaw was moved forward my nose became more upturned and now im self concious and sad from the new change. It was more devastating because i was unaware that this would actual happen from moving the upper jaw. Anyways, good luck with your surgery and decisions. > Hello, > > I have a gummy smile and I'm " supposed " to have upper and lower jaw > surgery. Guest guest
- - I, like you, have concerns about the upper procedure. I have an underbite and will be having a BSSO for mandibular set-back and probably a LeFort for maxillary advancement. I have discussed my concerns about my nose tip turning upward to my OMS and he has assured me that I have nothing to be concerned about; he says if my nose does that and I'm unhappy with the change, he will fix it for me - he's also a Cosmetic Surgeon. My OMS isn't sure if he will be doing the upper procedure and won't definitely know until Dec. or Jan. Tell your Surgeon your concerns. Take care. ~~~~~ Diane-- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , " deagerk " <deagerk@y...> wrote: > I too had upper and lower jaw surgery for a bad underbite and after > the surgery i was pretty dissapointed with how my nose looked. > Since the upper jaw was moved forward my nose became more upturned > and now im self concious and sad from the new change.
