Guest guest
I have been following posts about B-12 and have some questions. My b-12 is running 564 as of last labs. I have been taking 2 multi vits a day for a total of 36mcg a day . I also take 325mg iron twice a day. My Hemoglobin is 10.7 as of last testing results (normal is > 12 ) my total iron levels are normal and my total iron binding capacity is high which shows that I do have iron deficiancy anemia rather than some other weird blodd disorder. It also shows that even though my hemoglobing is low I am storing and holding on to my iron well. However, I was trying to follow the posts about low B-12 causing depression. I went on antidepressants 3 weekd ago as I had been feeling rather depressed. I saw my doc today and she drew a bunch of labs. I had hernia surgery (emergency after a bowel obstruction in August )It was very traumatic, i truely feared I would die, I was in the most horrible pain of my life and I have had kidney stones and child birth without anesthesia so I am not a wimp. I was in so much pain I fainted in the emergency room . Scared my husband nearly to death too. I have never felt very good since the surgery. I think that was the beginning of the depression but my doc and I wanted to rule out any other physical causes. My question is do you think that my B12 level , even tho " normal " might be a cause of my depression? I can take sublinguals if necessary and my doc is also willing to give me shots if i think I need them. she is also checking my thyroid function as well. Guest guest
Are you taking ferrous SULFATE? You might want to try an absorbable iron so you can get out of the iron anemia. When something gets whacked, EVERYTHINGN gets whacked. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Given the extreme pain you experienced it makes some sense.
