Guest guest
Greetings, I'm here to inquire and/or complain. I was seen at NJH October 8th and 9th. I was told they would send for my biopsy slides from University of Tennessee and decide on a course of treatment when they had reviewed them. To date I have not heard from them but to say they had not yet received the slides. That was probably in October (memory fails me as I didn't write it down). I already have my reports from them as to all tests and recommendations. I've been in touch with them for advice about a URI that four courses of different antibiotics has not covered. Dr. Hines said I needed a culture while there twice but never did one. After talking to NJH this morning I was told to call my Dr. and if that fails, go to urgent care and let them know how I'm doing later in the week. So, I finally called UT pathology myself concerning the slides. It seems they were sent October 20th and they already have the report back from NJH. To say I'm baffled is an understatement. I now need a culture; but nobody would do one before antibiotics were started and I am having too many problems to wait a week without treatment. Question here: If this microbe can survive 4 different antibiotics and continue to thrive, then why must I wait 7 days for a culture to be valid? The darn bug is as healthy as ever and should grow in abundance! FYI, antibiotics were, Leviquin, Augmenten, Doxycycline and Omnicef. The good news, I hope, is that I have an appt to see a pulmo here at last. It is a week from today. Meanwhile I am getting sicker by the day and, it seems, will need antibiotics before my seven days off antibiotics is complete. Looks like urgent care or my largely disinterested internist will have to do. I have a call in to him now. If anyone has any other suggestions I'm all ears. Looks like this is more of a complaint than inquiry as it seems, after writing this, that I am doing the best I can for now. Still wonder about the biopsy slide thing and why they have not called. ann PF, NSIP, HP, Bronchiectisis in five lobes, and who knows what next!
