Guest guest
Hi Patti: Welcome to the group. My name is Pravin and I live in Cambridge Ontario Canada. I have IPF which was diagnosed in 2003 after a 2 year run around through the medical system. I joined this group last Feb and have made many friends and have come to the realization that although we have a deadly disease it needs to be managed and one has to live everyday to the best of their abilities and use all the tools available to deal with the different stages of this deadly disease. I was on the transplant list in Toronto for about 3 years but now am not able to get a transplant. I have decided to use my native lungs as best as I can and live each day to the fullest. There is nothing to be scared about. Please travel each stage in your life knowing that everything happens for a reason and that God is aware of your needs and will take care of you when you need it. Regards Pravin > > Just want you all to know how very grateful I am to have found you. Since joining just a few days ago I have been going back and reading as many old posts as I can (well after midnight the last few nights) and I have never seen such a positive group of people. When I was told last month that my IPF was advancing I was scared to death. I started reading as much info as I could and we all know how frightening that can be. At this time I am not on any medication or oxygen but that may all change after I go to Chicago next week but even that seems less scary now. > Again thanks to all of you for encouraging me and each other and my favorate post yet was " we have no expiration date stamped on our butts " . I love that! > > If there are any Hoosiers out there please let me know. > > Patti, 59, Indianapolis, IPF 2007 >
Guest guest
Pravin.....thanks you so much the warm welcome to the group........If I may ask why did they take you off the transplant list? I worry because I will be 60 next year and I read somewhere that 60 is basically the cut off age......hope that's not true. I do believe that God has a plan for all of us so I shall try hard to travel as you say through each stage. Guest guest
Hi Patti: Do not be concerned about your age. I am 63 years old. The transplant team looked at all the issues with me and have decided that I would not be able to survive the transplant operation since my heart and lungs have become an issue as well. While I was on the list I did see a lot of my friends who did not make it through the transplant issues. You need to keep your faith and deal with all the issues that crop up and above all be positive.
