Guest guest
I was just making breakfast when the phone rang and it was Shand's asking me how I was doing.........they told me to come, they had a single lung for me. and I ran around the house as fast as I could, called Jim who was at work and we both left to go to our agreed upon meeting place....a road side stop. He did fine. I got lost twice on a road I know as well as the bback of my hand. We finally connetd and left in one car for Gainesville. " We got to the hospital yesterday at a little after 11 AM. After registering, they took us to Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The Cardiac ICU is right next to Operating Room and is the most intensive unit they have. They told us the operation would probably be in the afternoon. At about 3:00 PM, they said the operation involved a young woman who was donating various organs, and the teams harvesting those organs needed to coordinate their timing and complicating this issue was that they were coming from different hospitals. At 4 PM, they said it would be sometimes between 6 and 7. At 7:00, they said it would be between 8 and 9. At 9, they said sometime after 10, and at about 10:30, they came in and said the lung was not suitable and that we would be discharged within about an hour. We were out of the hospital around 11:30.and I needed to eat so we stopped for that. I trust Dr. Baz and the tx team conpletely with their decisions. We got to the hotel around 1 AM and are now on our way home. We continue the wait for the next time. Thank you all for your concern and prayers and well wishes. We are exhausted but no worse for the wear. I plan to be back in the office on Friday morning. "
