Hi melissa welcome to the group!

i had surgery 3 years ago to correct a sevre class III underbite. i

had braces for 5 years before my surgery, however i was only 17 when i

had the surgery. this was the reason why i had them on so long

because my surgeon and ortho wanted to make sure that i had stopped

growing before i had the srugery. The time you spend in braces will

differ between patients, depending how fast your jaws/teeth move into

the right postion. I didnt need to be wired after surgery but i did

have a splint for 4 days, until they decided to remove it because they

said it wasnt serving a purpose. I was tightly banded shut for aboout

3months, losing a few bands along the way to allow for a little extra

movemnet as my jaws became stronger. Wiring will again differ between

patients and also how your surgeon/ortho practices. I had upper/lower

and RPE. I was on a liquid diet for 6 weeks, and a mushy diet for the

next 3 months. My photos can be seen under katerina on this site and

also under katerina (or kat_UK, i cant remember which ) on site 2,

which i have more recent photos on.

Do you have any dates for your surgery yet?

If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask.

Kind regards

Kat_UK
