Guest guest
Wednesday night is my busy night as well. Ten year old has soccer practice, soon to be basketball practice, DH goes to group, and I have pottery class so out comes the crock pot/slow cooker. I can throw in something in the morning, the sitter can serve the two of them, DH can serve himself and I still get a hot meal when I get home at 9:00pm. Works well for our household and now that it's winter I really look forward to a hot meal after pottery class. Alice The Loon RNY 12/28/00 > Same here. The rule at our house is Burger King once a month and pizza once a month. The rest of the time I cook and with my schedule its easier said than done, but I do it. I will admit to Wednesdays being spaghetti O night or mac and cheese night only because I have school during the day, then I take Leah to Brownies from 4:30 - 6: 00 pm (I'm the leader) and then have to race home, feed the kids and get to religion by 6:45. If I have anything left over that can be heated quickly then I will do it, otherwise, that is kind of treat night for them.
Guest guest
>> So that's possibly six days a month that I don't make dinner with > veggies and such. Not too bad considering what I'm hearing from all of > their friends and what their diets consist of. We had my son's girlfriend over for Thanksgiving dinner, and I knew her mom didn't cook, but I didn't think before how much instant food she's used to. She had never had homemade stuffing, only Stovetop, never even had the famous green bean casserole, or pumpkin pie that wasn't frozen. She never saw someone peel, cut up and cook potatoes to make mashed potatoes -- she ended up spending half the day with me in the kitchen, just watching how things are done. Well at least, when she starts feeding my son on a regular basis, she'll have an idea that it's not magic, but it doesn't have to be from a box or a freezer, either! ~~ Lyn G

He was amazed that I used real potatoes for a meal that was not a special occasion! Kim O
