Guest guest
Terre Well, as serious as acid reflux is and as difficult as managing it is even with the best prescription medicines I think to select a totally unproven alternative based on having seen it in a health food store and to go against the normal medical advice is a huge huge risk to take. You don't know if its working or not as GERD often no longer shows symptoms on PF'ers while still being very much there. It's your choice but it's one that could have very serious adverse effects on your condition. Again it's your choice but I strongly advise others against following you in this regard. Also, I don't recall if you're planning on pursuing transplant but failure to follow their medical protocol in treating your GERD would certainly not be well received. > > I was in the local health food store last night when I spotted an acid reflux remedy. It was touted as an old Amish receipe. It is an all natural ingredient mixture. It is made of apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, and garlic. It doesn't sound like it would work but they have a guarantee that it will work in about 1 minute. > I found their web site this morning. It is www.stopsacidreflux.com. > I can't tell you if it works but I think I'll buy one from the store. It's actually cheaper than on line. > Their explanation on the site of why it works doen't sound correct to me but for $10 I'll try it. It does have a money back guarantee. > Terre, IPF, 6-08, FL >
Guest guest
Hi Bruce, I agree with you. I'm not stopping my prescibed medicine. I wouldn't use this as my only form of blocker. I'm planning on trying it if I feel the need as a supplement to my prescribed meds. If I feel it works then I'll keep using it as a supplement. If it doesn't or I have other noticable effects I'll stop. If it wasn't made of all natural ingredients I wouldn't even be doing it. I'm not sure it will work because of the vinegar anyway. I'm not on the transplant path yet. best regards, Terre, IPF, 6-08, FL > > > > I was in the local health food store last night when I spotted an acid > reflux remedy. Guest guest
TerreNatural ingredients doesn't make something safe and doesn't mean it will not interact with your other meds. Do not try anything like that without your doctor's knowledge and blessing. Just because something has natural ingredients doesn't mean its good or bad, safe or dangerous. You must treat supplements like any other meds you take and do be sure you list them on meds when you see your doctors. Some supplements your doctor may well suggest or be fine with. Others they will know of problems you don't. Grapefruit juice is the first thing that comes to mind as providing nutrients but interfering with the enzymes that break down many drugs in your digestive system. Here are just a few of the interactions and I'm just using grapefruit as an example. This is a table from Mayo of some of the interactions of grapefruit.Drug name Type of drug Amiodarone (Cordarone)A drug used to treat and prevent abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias)Buspirone (BuSpar), sertraline (Zoloft)AntidepressantsCarbamazepine (Carbatrol, Tegretol)An anti-seizure medicationCyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), tacrolimus (Prograf)Immunosuppressant drugsFelodipine (Plendil), nifedipine (Procardia), nimodipine (Nimotop), nisoldipine (Sular)Calcium channel blockers used to treat high blood pressureSaquinavirAn HIV medicationSimvastatin (Zocor), lovastatin (Mevacor), atorvastatin (Lipitor)Statins used to treat high cholesterol> > >> > > I was in the local health food store last night when I spotted an acid> > reflux remedy. Guest guest
Lanie, What is with the names lately (or am I just the crazy one) Nissan Fodulication? (and yes I do know what it is) just sounds weird, like you have Nissans fondling you. Now would that be trucks or cars? Trucks I'm guessing as they are so much more red neck that cars....time to go home now and tell the voices to be quiet....LOL Dyane > > > > > > > > I was in the local health food store last night when I spotted an acid > > > reflux remedy.
