Guest guest
Hi Jodie, I'm glad your're able to talk to your dad now. I can relate to your experience. My favorite Aunt had a slow decline for a 6 month period, then we lost her this last June. I hope that since your dad is more alert now that this will be the beginning of a recovery. It sounds like he has a strong supportive family that will help him fight through the odds, and since you have so many of us praying for him, I think he stands an even better chance! Doctors don't always like to be too optimistic I think, so that the family isn't even more devastated when it doesn't turn out in their favor. So lets all keep the faith! So happy to hear is doing well! Thinking of you and your family. Guest guest
Jodie, Hopefully your Dad talking like that will help his recovery! Positive thinking does alot for illness when it's ones self. Nice to hear that is eating more and that the teacher is on board. That can make all the difference in the world. It's amazing to realize just what they are eating or not ... I'm keeping track for a few days for our new doc and it's scary ... I was wondering if it was making me push him to eat more, if that's the case I'll have to keep on keeping track! Thinking of you lots. Dawna Hope to get to chat with you guys again soon, but can understand you not having time! > > hi all!! > well i spent the weekend at the hospital and then here trying to take > advantage of the beautiful weather and get some much needed stuff > done. my dad is more alert, still not all with it at times but is > talking. his short term memory is gone. he is moving his left leg but > his arm is still paralyzed. they have him on morphine for his pain and > heprin for the blood clot. we just have to wait and see. the lady > from the rehab center is suppose to be coming in this week to evaulate > him. he thinks that he will be walking and leaving by fri to go > home?!?! we have yet to deal with that. thanks for all the emails and > thoughts and prayers. it is going to be a long road. hopefully at one > point he will be able to come home. > > now christopher, he has been eating much better since we went to see dr > h. his teacher is really on board now with making sure he eats his > snacks and lunch (i think the thought of him having to have surgery > upset her as well). so keep your fingers crossed!!! > > jodie c >

Guest guest
Jodie - actually I was thinking about a lot more these days than usual! I've been contemplating Ian's situation and know that was doing well on the Periactin (is that right?). Anyway, I'm glad to know that is doing better with his eating these days. I'll talk to you soon. - H > > hi all!! > well i spent the weekend at the hospital and then here trying to take > advantage of the beautiful weather and get some much needed stuff > done. my dad is more alert, still not all with it at times but is > talking. his short term memory is gone. he is moving his left leg but > his arm is still paralyzed. they have him on morphine for his pain and > heprin for the blood clot. we just have to wait and see. the lady > from the rehab center is suppose to be coming in this week to evaulate > him. he thinks that he will be walking and leaving by fri to go > home?!?! we have yet to deal with that. thanks for all the emails and > thoughts and prayers. it is going to be a long road. hopefully at one > point he will be able to come home. > > now christopher, he has been eating much better since we went to see dr > h. his teacher is really on board now with making sure he eats his > snacks and lunch (i think the thought of him having to have surgery > upset her as well). so keep your fingers crossed!!! > > jodie c >
Guest guest
Jodie, Wonderful news about your dad and about . I guess Dr. H. had more influence on than you thought! May I make a suggestion to you regarding your father? Please take the time to write him a letter or tell him how much he has meant to you. Pour your heart out. I did this for my dad before he passed away 15 years ago. It was the best thing I could have done for him. We knew his cancer was bad and there was no hope for his recovery. One day I sat down and wrote him a long letter, telling him how much I loved him, how much he meant to me and little things that we had done together that just stayed in my heart. We both cried over it, but it was a bonding experience. When he passed, I did not feel as if I had not said what I had wanted to say. Just a thought from a caring friend. Guest guest
Jodie, sorry about your dad. I hope tomorrow will be a better day. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless, Reah and Chloe:) Jodie wrote: hey jodi!! thanks so much!! yesterday my mom went to the hospital (i just couldnt go again, but will today) and my dad would go from talking crazy (he says my mom, myself and my hubby go out drinking every friday night at a bar that has been closed since i was a little girl and we leave him home alone) to being " sane " . he also accused my mom of beating him with a baseball bat. she said he was off the wall most of the afternoon. i guess we will see how he is today. jodie c
