Guest guest
My real question is- I've also been experiencing intense anxiety and depression (along with diarrhea and insomnia) for the past several months, and was wondering if anyone here on the list has a sense of whether the diet might be helpful for this as well.I would bet on yes. Since this diet has helped things such as autism, like you pointed out, it's pretty apparent how connected your whole body is; brain, gut, you name it. If I were to take a guess, I'd say your depression and anxiety have a pretty good chance of healing right along with your gut. I used to have really bad anxiety, and it's so much better now. I went through a couple months where I would nearly pass out from a finger prick, wheras now I can get my blood drawn from my arm just fine. I was just always really on edge, and it's gotten a lot better. Guest guest
Hi, I've had candida issues for many years, albeit they were somewhat under the radar and undiagnosed. For years, I'd been waking up at 2-4am with great anxiety. No particular thought in mind, just a rush of anxiety. I chalked it up to the great deal of stress I lived with (sole caregiver to a parent with medical and dementia issues). But even after that part of life was over, I had the same constant wakings. Then about a year ago, I started taking Diflucan for the yeast (I was already on SCD) and it stopped within a week. Just plain and simple stopped. I still wake up frequently those times, but with absolutely no anxiety. Hope this gives you some hope that beating down the yeast beast with SCD and whatever else you need can help your brain get the nutrition and good balance of neurotransmitters you need. Guest guest
Sue how long did you take diflucan? Sometimes I sleep thru nite, trying to figure if it's what I ate. I still have some fatigue, indecision, anxiety and .... lessened somewhat by scd but life goes on and last month after resting from care of mother, county decided kitchen was dangerous and unsanitary for my 16 yr old, (needed cleaning but not dangerous, lots of walnut skins on counter) and removed son , didnt know they could do that and not give a copy of warrant. so he's back, and wondering what next. hopefully things still getting better. digestion is getting better though still pains daily, had trouble with many of the intro items, partially due to candida, and other. Have tried cats claw though its probably illegal and after a few days feel like absorbing more nutrients. Was considering trying calcium d glucarate as heard it reduced toxins from various stuff including bad " bugs " , couldnt find it without illegals. An aquantance who's not on the diet said she gets anxiety when uses black walnut to rid parasites(blastocystis h), so bad that she wont use it. Guest guest
Interesting to read that others also experience that 2am to 4 am anxiety/panic attack. I’ve had that issue since the day my upper GI dysfunctions developed…. I know it must happen to many people with digestive issues, but not everyone discusses it, I guess. Unfortunately I still experience it, but not as often now, six years after finding SCD. I’ve talked it over with my doctors, and each has a different idea about the cause. I think it’s probably a combination of things, but since my digestion is more stable now, after years on SCD, and I’m supplementing enough things that help my nervous system, I don’t get that adrenalin surge as often. Good thing, too! I have a number of other symptoms along with the anxiety and panic at 3 am, so it isn’t a pleasant experience (severe nausea, chills, severe headache, dizziness, severe RUQ pain). Fortunately it doesn’t happen more than once or twice a month these days – much better than every night [grin]. I’ve found there is a link between these early morning episodes and how my nervous system behaves for 24 to 48 hours afterwards, so I definitely feel that brain/gut/blood connection. Kim M. Guest guest
Hi, Pemad, Probably then number of us who have found that our depression was caused by candidal overgrowth in HUMONGOUS. Life can be wonderful. You're in the right place! Artful Carol Former me: From babyhood - CFS, Depression, Candida, Severe Chemical, Inhalant, and Food Allergies. Current me: Global Carb and Fungal Problems well-controlled past 30 yr. by extremely low-carb, no dairy, no grains allergy/anti-yeast diet, SCD 01/05. After 35 yrs. no need for allergy shots since SCD! Magnesium/Vits A, B, D, E/Evening Primrose, Fish, Olive, and Other Oils, Lecithin. 2 grown kids recovered from serious developmental problems which I believe were fungally-caused. > > Hi, > > I've just discovered the SC diet. I have a history of candida yeast infections, parasites, diarrhea, and general low energy which I suspect may be related to poor absorption. The diet looks like it might be a good fit based on these things. > > My real question is- I've also been experiencing intense anxiety and depression (along with diarrhea and insomnia) for the past several months, and was wondering if anyone here on the list has a sense of whether the diet might be helpful for this as well. (It is bad enough that I'm not sure I can handle the rigors of this diet without some likelihood of it helping these most acute symptoms.) I've read that the diet has helped with other brain/neurological/psychological problems (eg, schizophrenia, autism) but have not seen any mention of anxiety or depression so far. > > THanks very much! > > pemad >
