Guest guest
My nails have started chipping, not just a little but a lot. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. I quit my protein drink but I'm getting the same amount of protein with non-fat milk. I take my vitamins religiously except for calcium. Could this be the problem? I had my surgery 8-26-02. Thanks for the help. Val 237/148.
Guest guest
Val, I'm almost certain it's the fact you quit your protein shake AND your calcium. Both are mandatory for good nails/hair, especially if you are experiencing chipping. I had bad nails prior to surgery and up until I finally got good with my supplements and protein. Milk protein is not the same. Play around with your diet a little, try the shakes and calcium again and I bet your nails not only get better, but you feel better too. Guest guest
Could also be a zinc problem. My nails improved substantially when I corrected my zinc deficiency. it can't be a good thing (she says ingenuously) to not be taking calcium although I have no idea if a deficiency would manifest in brittle nails?? So it sure wouldn't hurt to run those labs and see what's not cookin'. Guest guest
Yes, this absolutely could be the problem.
