Guest guest
Well, I learned a big lesson yesterday with Ian and Periactin. He can NOT tolerate it during the day. We tried to switch to mornings since he was waking up hungry in the middle of the nights when we gave him a dose before dinner. Well, big mistake. He was incredibly crabby, angry, irritable, and whiny. It was awful. He cried himself to sleep - well, more like screamed himself to sleep for his nap yesterday. He's NEVER done that before. It was horrible. I plan on mentioning it to our GI doc and Dr. H. He's so much more pleasant and happy today. He's like a different kid from yesterday. He's back to hugs, kisses, and being playful. So much better. - H
Guest guest
, Many kids get cranky from that morning dose. It can be a nightmare as you found out. I would think that giving him the evening dose and having him wake up hungry is better for him. He has that tendency to drop his blood sugars in the night, so having him eat in the middle of the night is good for him. I know it's a pain having to wake up and give him something to eat, but at least he is eating. All of this is so much trial and error. You will find what works best for you and Ian. It just sometimes takes awhile. Jodi Z

Guest guest
Ooh, sounds like an ugly scene. I am sure you will be able to figure out what works for you guys soon. Not all kids react the same way so hopefully you find the right time to dose soon ! > > Well, I learned a big lesson yesterday with Ian and Periactin. He can > NOT tolerate it during the day. Guest guest
Hi - Laikyn was the same way when she first started Pericatin. It lasted for a few days and then she got use to the meds. Maybe you need to lower your dose for the morning. When Laikyn first started she was getting 1.5ml twice a day! Good Luck with this!
