Joe/Joanie:

I will be waiting to hear about your visit to the Emory Clinic tomorrow. Are you just having PFTs? I figured you would probably see Dr. Kershaw one last time. I have an appointment with him on Feb. 5th.I have not received any letter from him so I am glad that you posted this news. I sent an email to Mari Hart and I am waiting to hear from her. I also checked on the internet at the IPFnet site and Emory is no longer a center of excellence, meaning no clinical trials for IPF. Dr. Gerald Staton never participated in the clinical trials. He would just send his patients who wanted to participate to the other doctors. I will never go back to Dr. Staton. He caused me so much grief.

Eddie said he would possibly take me to Kentucky to see Dr. . I also mentioned to him about going to B'ham, Alabama to UAB. I haven't checked on the mileage. Eddie and I know a lot of people in B'ham.area anyway because I went to college nearby and Eddie lived in Alabama.

I also remember Tamra mentioning something about Dr. Fisher. She told me that she really lliked him and would enjoy working with him. Dr. Fisher specializes in pulmonary hypertension.

Have a good trip tomorrow and let me know. Hope ;your PFTs are awesome!

Hi Jane,

I just got home from tests. First, I have declined by 8% in 6 months. I did see Dr. Kershaw and he recommended Dr. Staton. In his letter he recommended 2 others also. That is Dr. Berkowitz and Dr Cherry Wongtrakool.

We did see Mari Hart and she has taken a job in the diabetes department but will be in pulmo Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Emory lost government funding for the trial tests and that is the reason for the bailout.

Dr. Kershaw set me up to have the tests again in April to see if the decline continues. He did set me up to see Dr. Staton. I will give him an opportunity before making a decision to change hospitals.

I have a neighbor who had a daughter die of Cystic Fibrosis and she loved Dr. Staton, and highly recommended him.

Thanks,

Joe
