Hello fellow San Diegan! We have Anthem BC HMO and they are contracted with

Cranial Technologies, so I would assume the PPO would be as well. When we went

through the process of approval, I was told that they will usually approve the

request when the Cranial Vault Asymmetry is more than 9 mm.

Our son got his helmet from Cranial Tech here in SD and we had a great

experience with them and our orthotist, Paige, was wonderful. Our baby's

asymmetry went from 14 to 3 mm in 8 weeks since he was banded at 4.5 months. He

still has moderate brachy and we're on the fence about another helmet so I'm

going to speak with them about it on Monday.

Best of luck!

anyone out there has anthem blue cross ppo and has had their band covered

through cranial technologies and or scope. I am in san diego california. I have

checked out the database file but I don't see many recent updates for anthem.

a vault asymetry 11.5. I need as much advise and words of wisdom regarding

this. I am hearing 50/50 with anthem blue cross. Thanks to all of you and it

feels so awesome not to go through this alone. Happy new year.

Thank you so so much. This gives me hope. Best of luck to you also and congrats

on such an improvement in 8 weeks. Will you be using insurance for a second

band...i wonder how that works. Take care.

I have Empire BC/BS PPO, and after some arguing, they did pay for my son's DOC

band even though it was out of network for us. We didn't have any other

providers nearby, so that helped in our case. Their cutoff for the cranial vault

asymmetry was also 9 mm. They did not cover brachy cases. Good luck!

Thanks so much. I dont understand why they dont cover brachy cases. I guess I

will have to put up a fight on this one. Hopefully I will be able to appeal if

they dont ok it during pre-auth. Take care.
