Guest guest
Here are some updated pictures from pre-op to day 9. The last picture shows that I have somewhat of an overbite now. Do you guys think orthodontics can fix this, or did my surgeon screw up? He said my " I-teeth " are in the right spot, just those gaps they put in to section my jaw into 3 pieces make it look like I have somewhat of an overbite. I'm feeling pretty good. I haven't had any advil since 5 o'clock last night. My nose is getting better, but now my ears are all stuffy. http://www.therayfamily.org/jawsurgery/JawSurgery.html I had upper leforte I to fix my gummy smile and open bite. Guest guest
I also have somewhat of an overbite now, mabye I can post a pic later when I get home. It's about 2-3 mm now I would guess, but it was more immediately after the surgery. It looked alot like yours, but I don't have a picture of it then. I was really worried too, because it seemed as if I had more of an overbite after the surgery than before. My orthodontist has me in class II elastics (Super Heavy Duty 6 oz. 3/16 " ), and I am just over 3 mos post op. I guess they are supposed to move my top teeth back, molars and all, and slightly move my bottom jaw forward. They are working, slowly albeit, but my teeth are moving. (I did have to take the elastics off for a few weeks due to jaw pain (as per my ortho's orders), so it slowed my progress a little) I especially feel it in the top teeth and notice it in my lip competency. Only one measly mm or so to go before my lips close at rest! So, I would trust your orthodontist, they should be able to correct it. Especially if you have gaps, you will have a much easier time to close the overbite. Good luck! > Here are some updated pictures from pre-op to day 9.
