Guest guest
Pink Definitely thinking of him, of you and of your children. C-Diff is a major problem in many hospitals. All forms of staph infection are more rampant than they make us aware too and in some of the better hospitals. It mainly gets publicized when athletes get surgery with Cleveland Clinic getting the most publicity. I'm sorry he ran into the complications and hope he is able to work through it. > > wasn't sure if i would request this because he is my ex, but he is the father of my children > > most of you know about the ALS > > last week he was admitted to the hospital with high fever, urinary tract infection, put on antibiotics, > > last night, Jill, our daughter, told me that while in hospital, he got C-Diff, still high fever, more antibiotics > > Jill is very upset, she has seen him a few times, but afraid to go because of her pregnancy > plus it is very upsetting to see him like this > > the man who lives with him to take take of him has been sleeping at the hospital every day, taking care of him round the clock > > earlier in the week, there was an article on one of the news shows about people getting C-diff while in the hospital > > I really feel bad for him > > > Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania > Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 > www.transplantfund.org >
Guest guest
C-Diff Clostridium difficile, often called C. difficile or " C. diff, " is a bacterium that can cause symptoms ranging from diarrhea to life-threatening inflammation of the colon. Illness from C. difficile most commonly affects older adults in hospitals or in long term care facilities and typically occurs after use of antibiotic medications. In recent years, C. difficile infections have become more frequent, more severe and more difficult to treat. Each year, tens of thousands of people in the United States get sick from C. difficile, including some otherwise healthy people who aren't hospitalized or taking antibiotics. Mild illness caused by C. difficile may get better if you stop taking antibiotics. More severe symptoms require treatment with a different antibiotic. > > > From: Joyce T Rosenberg pinkrockybeach@... > Subject: prayers needed for my ex > To: breathe-support > Date: Friday, January 8, 2010, 7:43 AM > > >  > > > > > > > > > wasn't sure if i would request this because he is my ex, but he is the father of my children >  > most of you know about the ALS >  > last week he was admitted to the hospital with high fever, urinary tract infection, put on antibiotics, >  > last night, Jill, our daughter, told me that while in hospital, he got C-Diff, still high fever, more antibiotics >  > Jill is very upset, she has seen him a few times, but afraid to go because of her pregnancy > plus it is very upsetting to see him like this >  > the man who lives with him to take take of him has been sleeping at the hospital every day, taking care of him round the clock >  > earlier in the week, there was an article on one of the news shows about people getting C-diff while in the hospital >  > I really feel bad for him > > > Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06)  IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania > Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 > www.transplantfund. org >

Guest guest
sharon i know we have discussed this before bruce also has a vent and a feeding tube he knew before getting the vent and feeding tube that they would be permanent he is able to live at home because they are able to have someone live with them who takes care of him and there is someone who comes in the morning to help get him out of bed for the day and someone who comes at night who helps get him ready for bed the rest of the day is spent in a wheelchair i think he can move one finger, because he has this machine on the wheelchair tray that will make a loud noise if he needs something or wants to participate in the conversation he is unable to talk, in fact, they cut the vocal cords when they did the trach, [i don't know why they cut the vocal cords], this is why he has no voice, cannot moan or make any kind of noise he watches TV a good portion of day, in fact, he bought a super duper tv when he got sick and moved to a 55 plus community to prepare for when he wouldn't be able to do anything a couple of years ago, they got a special computer for him that he works with his eyes his wife would not be able to care for him by herself, even though she learned how to use all of the equipment, but she has help being a vet, the VA helps with some of the expenses plus he is a physician, so i guess he is using his savings with ALS, there is no 2 year wait for medicare when they go on ssdi, so that made things financially easier too he was born in 1944, he was diagnosed about 10 years ago my kids do worry about the possibility of the wife putting him into a nursing home, but she is able to keep him at home, and they really appreciate the care that she gives him a couple of years ago they treated her to a massage, my 2 girls and his wife spent a day at a spa or maybe they brought the spa to the house he does have someone come in maybe twice a week for a massage anyway, C-diff is an intestinal bacteria that causes diarehea [spelling?], last year when i had the stomach flu, they tested me for C-diff, that's the first time i heard of it he looks forward to when the kids visit and there is always company in the house so he gets to see lots of people he has been a good role model for me in his desire to do whatever it takes to keep living Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Re: prayers needed for my exTo: Breathe-Support Date: Friday, January 8, 2010, 11:01 AM Joyce ,sorry to hear about your ex. Illness from C. difficilemost commonly affects older adults in hospitals or in long term carefacilities and typically occurs after use of antibiotic medications. In recent years, C. difficile infections have become more frequent, moresevere and more difficult to treat. Each year, tens of thousands ofpeople in the United States get sick from C. difficile, including someotherwise healthy people who aren't hospitalized or taking antibiotics.Mild illness caused by C. difficile may get better if you stop takingantibiotics.
