Guest guest
Hello, I just had a visit this week with my PT and she said that my son will be done with his helmet in 2 weeks. That's when they will do the new measuremets/digital scan, etc. and let me know what his progress has been. Well, I'm concerned because he will have only been in the helmet 7 weeks at that point. He received his helmet on 11/15 and will be graduating on 1/12. Now, I realize that his graduation date has been set because he will have outgrown the helmet (no room left to shave down) and not because his head is fixed/complete. Granted his head looks better but he's just been in it a little while. I feel like he should be in it much longer. I guess what I would like to know is what other people's experience has been with this...? And how do you know if you need a 2nd band? My son started the helmet at 5.5 months (he will be 7.25 mos at graduation) and was diagnosed with moderate/severe plagio and his measurements are below: -Cephalic Index: 94 -Cranial Vault Asymmetry: 11mm -Mid-Face Asymmetry: 2mm -Skull-Base Asymmetry: 5mm Any insight you may have will be very helpful. Thanks for this group, it has made this journey so much easier for me. I have learned a lot. Thanks,

Guest guest
Hi , You haven't said what kind of band, but with docbands it is not uncommon to have 2 bands (something around 15%, if I'm wrong Thad will correct me). With other band providers the band can generally be worn longer and second bands are less common, but not unheard of. If you're not happy with his head shape when the band is outgrown ask about a 2nd band. My daughter had brachy starting about 97%. She got down to about 85%. At the time I didn't consider a 2nd band, but sometimes wonder if I should have brought it up. Now is the time if you think it might help. -christine sydney, 5 yrs, starband grad > > Hello, > > I just had a visit this week with my PT and she said that my son will be done with his helmet in 2 weeks.
