Dear Grads,

This morning while eating some Grape Nuts, I broke a tooth. This may

not have bothered me so much but since I broke another tooth last

week, I'm panicking! I called my dentist's office, I was there less

than 6 months ago, had good x-rays less than a year ago...and I'm

going in at noon today.

I'm quite distal at 200cm bypassed. I am not only a compliant patient

when it comes to taking my vitamins & supplements, I am hyper-

vigilant about it. Sometimes to the point of being obsessive about

making sure I take the darn things. I did recently, upon advice from

the Vitalady, increase my calcium from 1500mg to 2000mg. Perhaps I

shouldn't take them same time as my multi (the generic form of

Centrum....I thought I read that the minimal amount of iron in them

wouldn't interfere with absorption of calcium)???

Here's my regime: EARLY AM - 1000mg Ester C & 50mg Carbonyl Iron; AM -

B Complex, 500mg calcium; NOON - 800iu Dry Vitamin E, 500mg calcium,

multi; EVE - 50mg zinc, Dry Vitamin A & D combo, 500mg calcium;

BEDTIME - 50mg zinc, multi, calcium.

I supplement with 2 or 3 protein shakes a day (Pure Whey Stack, 1-1/2

scoops per). I feel like I'm doing it right and now I'm freaking out!

Should I change my calcium approach?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone & everyone who's been down

this road before. Pre-op I never had calcium supplements, was a

smoker and major caffeine freak. Now I don't smoke, don't do caffeine

and supplement religiously. Is this merely time catching up with me

at 1-1/2 years post op?

Waaa!!! I need a hug and my husband is off in Ohio driving a truck!

Thanks gang.

p.s. Odd thought just occurred...I've recently pumped up my workout,

doing strength training. Could that be increasing my need for

calcium? Hmm...
