weeks, as well as Enhnasa for a few months, to rid myself of yeast before I try

to start LDN in the next few months.

been treating it.

>> BUT NOW - I just got back results from a stool test a month ago that shows

positive for candida parasilopsis.

positive - but what level of overgrowth?

>>

>> I looked up this critter and it looks like it is prevalent in healthcare

settings and likes to grow on things like IVs and central lines. I know - CRAZY,

right? So I don't know how long I've had this particular type of candida, I was

in the hospital with my Crohn's for 4 weeks in 2007, 2 weeks in 2008 for a

fistula which resulted in TPN through a PICC line for 4 months, and I've been

getting Remicade IVs for the last 2 years.

>>

>> So here are my questions...

>> 1) Is s. boulardii effective against this type of candida?

sorry, out of my competency range. Maybe Jodi or Kim or Eileen have heard about

it?

>> 2) I don't think I am experiencing die-off from the s. boulardii. Should I up

the dose, and take 2 in the morning and 2 before bed?

I would up the dose to see what happens. I usually take 4 at night before bed

or upon waking up, but you

could split them and see how that feels for you.

>> If I take it in the morning on an empty stomach, it will only be 1 hour

before I MUST have my morning yogurt-based smoothie. Is this enough time before

food? And before other good probiotics?

yes. I don't think it disturbs other good bacteria, mainly yeast, but I'm not

certain there,

and there are always exceptions to any rule for individual situations.

Anyway, that's what I do and it works for me.

>> 3) Does candida parasilopsis interfere with LDN the way candida albicans

does?

No clue. If you want an answer to that, I would ask on the LDN list or maybe

join Dr. McCandless' list

and ask there. Perhaps someone knows. But you don't have to be rid of it

entirely for the LDN

to work, just have it begin to be more balanced again. At least, IME.

Can you research it on wikipedia and/or ask for more info wherever you had the

testing done -

or your doctor who prescribed the test?
