Guest guest
Hi . Sorry to hear about Ian's g-tube troubles. After Autumn's surgery, she had an infection of a stitch in her stomach which formed into an abcess which was contained, so it didn't spread inside her. It moved to the surface of her site and then stuff came out...it wasn't pretty. She also got a lot of granulation tissue there because the some of the stitch from the stomach was hiding under some skin. The doc thought he removed all of it but a couple of weeks later I found more stitch coming out of new granulation tissue. Her site remained red for a long time and it leaked and still leaks gunk around the site, not puss though. Also, the area where she had her issues and infection remains red and the doctor said that they think it has turned into a scar from everything....anyways, I went to the surgeon a few times for all of this just to make sure. I remember her infection was wrongly diagnosed in teh ER ( a yeast rash ) and I filed a complaint which they are taking very seriously. Anyways, I would definitly recommend going back to the doctor. A red site could mean so many things....infection, irritation, granulation tissue, a yeast rash...etc. Hope this may help some??? Good luck, it took a long time for Autumn's site to calm down from post surgery issues. It looks great now thanks to this cream we use and iv sponge pads under the button, although it still gets red and goop comes out under the button.... and I am told that may last a long time. mom to Autumn RSS, Summer SGA possible RSS, Ocean, Skye > > Hi . Guest guest
, I saw that responded to you but I just wanted to say that I hope Ian is feeling better. I would definitely get it looked at. It's always better to be safe than sorry. How is his mood? B and Kelli advocate22003 wrote: Hi . I have a quick question for you. How long - if you remember - was Autumn's g-tube site a little red? Ian's wound/site is getting better on the antibiotics, but, his site is still bright red and still has puss (of which I can't seem to clean out). I'm thinking I may have to take him in on Monday again just to get another look at it by the doc. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. - H
Guest guest
- ditto - I didn't realize you went through THAT much with Autumn. I will definately be calling the doc tomorrow. I think the site is finally getting a " scab " - but, I'm not pleased with it entirely. I have noticed a complete turn around with his personality and he has become remarkeably more active - so, I'm confident the medicine is doing something. Thank you so much for your response and I appreciate your insight on the situation. I will ask the doc tomorrow what she thinks and I will keep you posted. Thank you again. - H > > > > Hi . Guest guest
- thanks - I agree <grin>. You know - his mood is SO much better. Before we started him on the antibiotics - he would not move in the morning and wanted me to carry him out. He would lay for over an hour in the morning before really getting " motivated " to do anything. Once we got him on the antibiotics this last Wednesday - the next morning I saw a remarkeable difference - he was sitting up in bed, calling for me as usual, and then when we saw me stood up. He hadn't done this since before his surgery!! So, he definately has improved. And, he is constantly going all day - so, it has definately helped. I just am concerned it is not where it should be at this time and was looking for more input. Thank you so much for your thoughts and concern - i so much appreciate it. - H > Hi .
