My shrink says he has had SOME success with using Wellbutrin, which is

the same medication used by smokers trying to quit. This would be an " off

label " use of the medication, however.

You could consider it, however, I would not get your hopes up too

high.

Can some one tell me if they know of any psch. meds that help stop the

cravings of food? I was a thumb sucker up to age 10. I have anxiety

disorders, and I feel like I have an oral fixation, OCD or something.. Is

there any meds out there for it that work well for this problem? Thanks a

The only medication that I have found that doesn't increase

cravings is Wellbutrin. This was the first psychiatric med that I have

been on (and I've been on a few) where I had very few cravings and that

is usually the monthly urge for chocolate.

My surgeon had me go the my PCP and get a script for Wellbutrin- he

says that some studies have shown it to stop the " munchies " . I had

about a 17 pound regain while my foot was in a cast from May to

December and couldn't exercise with any weight bearing at all.

Haven't noticed a big change so far- it's been less than a month.
