My son has been in a Hanger band since March 1st and in 2 weeks he went from 13mm to 8mm!!! Our orthotist said that success like that is not typical (we got lucky with a growth spurt at the right time) but I can't say enough good things about our Hanger band. And at least at my local office (Columbus, OH), the staff at Hanger has been incredible. They're all so nice and helpful. And I adore our orthotist - he has tons of experience and is great with kids (even my 2-year-old daughter who has to tag along with us).Best of luck! I'm sure you'll be glad you did it.mom to , 7 months with tort & plagioHanger band since 3/1/10From: kabnancy <kabnancy@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Wed, March 24, 2010 12:36:13 AMSubject: Hanger

Hi,

my 4.5 month old son is about to start treatment with Hanger. Anyone had helmet done there or do you have any feedback on the effectiveness of their helmet?

Would truly appreciate your comments.

In 2002 my daughter went to a Hanger facility in Missouri. That particular Hanger uses the STARband though. We had a great experience. If you share which Hanger you are considering, maybe someone in the group has or is going there and can share their experience. Please keep us posted on how your son is doing.

Hi ,

Hanger is a good product, but a lot depends on the ortho. You want to make sure

you are working with someone who has a lot of experience banding babies. Some

orthos do many types of orthotics, and may not spend a lot of time on banding.

Maybe you can post your location, or which office you'll be going to. Or ask

your ortho about their experience with kids like yours, results you can expect

etc.

Hi

Hanger was our only option in the area. The office is not very

appealing and the ortho is just a young girl doing her residence.

However, she seems very knowledgable. She is specifically doing

cranial helmets and says she sees couple more patients every week. She

treated more than 100 kids so far. So, although everything doesn't

look ideal we are very happy with the results so far and seeing lots

of improvements. We even started with a heat rash during a growth

spurt and lost couple of days here and there.

Don't get me wrong I am not trying to make a recommendation. Just

sharing our experience with Hanger. Every child is different.

Good luck...

We are working with an orthotist named , who sees patients at both the

Reston and the andria office (where we go, since we are in ndale). My

daughter just got her scan yesterday and the helmet should be here in five days.

I've not been to the Reston office, but the andria one is fine, and

is great!

Good luck!

I thought that Hanger didn't do cranial banding at any other locations other

than that in Bethesda. At least thats what I was told. Now I'm worried that I

may have missed out on a potentially good orthotist. Im not saying that the one

we go to is bad, I'm still new to the whole process. Im just shocked!

They definitely do it in Reston also and in andria. I wonder why you were told they only do it in Bethesda?
