Guest guest
Jodi, Right now we have Aetna/US Healthcare and I called them to see what they cover - great. Jim just told me this week that we are switching to Oxford. I'm trying to find out what plan so that I can call them and find out what they cover so that I can then research the brands although I'm guessing that there isn't much of a difference between them. But, we want to start with one brand and hopefully stick with it. I know some of you had to change brands because of insurance, but has anyone seen a difference between the two and at the time of switching brands? Again, as I asked Jodie Cals, can you use the inject ease with any brand?????? Can you see my anxiety in that or what? Keep me posted on your reseach. After 14+ years using Humatrope, it is somewhat of an adjustment for us to even consider using a new med. We will do it if we have to. I'm waiting to hear from Dr. H. (One alternative I have is using my health insurance from where I teach and see if they will cover the Humatrope. Isn't that what secondary insurance is for???) Anyway, today I received a phonecall from the home care company that a rep is going to contact me to set up an appointment to teach Max and me how to use the pen device. That's not an issue for us because we've used the Humatrope one before. HOWEVER, Max does not use the pen anymore because he could not get a dose that was exact enough from the pen. He has to mix the cartridge as if he is going to use the pen, but then he withdraws the med with a syringe. My question: How exact is the measurement with Norditropin's pen? I have no idea of what this looks like and the nurse could not answer my question. Of course, no one had asked that one before. Great. Guest guest
We have Staywell, it's a Florida Medicaid and they only cover Norditropin as well, BUT we were denied because Norditropin is not approved for SGA (Even though they are all the same and our Endo said brand and FDA approvel don't matter). So, they resummitted it for Genotropin (Which is approved for SGA). I don't know how that is going yet, but he is getting Interm care through the bridge program from Pziser. If he gets denied we can apply for assistence from the bridge program to keep getting it..... R Mom to Jed (12) Asthma, tics, CAPD Liam (5) Asthma, Epilepsy, Hearing impaired, SGA, Food Allergies. Guest guest
Gosh, , I don't understand insurance companies at all anymore. I think they make denials and such just so that some of us will give up. Then they can keep their money and make more.
