Guest guest
Sounds like an allergic reaction of some kind. I would feel like that when I eat certain foods as well, especially pork and soy. // > > Hey all, > > So the hubby is feeling faint, shaky, can't focus, etc. (think low blood sugar symptoms), but he says it's only after he has some form of protein (chicken, cheese, etc.). Has anyone heard of this or experienced something similar? It sounds like hypoglycemia, except he's not eating sugar or anything, and typically hypoglycemics are told to eat protein to NOT feel those things. Anyone have any clue? Is this some die off thing? Or what? > > Not sure if this has anything to do with anything or not, but one time we read this book (Eat right for your blood type) and it said that his blood type does better with a more vegetarian diet. Guest guest
Hey Carissa, I know you guys recently started the diet, but how many days exactly? For the first 4-5 days I was super faint, shaky, and told my skin looked green, and had no energy from all the die off. I am sure others can comment about possible die off symptoms happening later after the intro... Hope he starts doing better! - SCD 3.5 months > > Hey all, > > So the hubby is feeling faint, shaky, can't focus, etc. (think low blood sugar symptoms), but he says it's only after he has some form of protein (chicken, cheese, etc.). Guest guest
Cariss, I'm having this same reaction too. To protein and fats. Found out a few days ago that it's a gallstone that is the problem for me. I've had to cut out all fats and protein for the past 4 days and was feeling weak until yesterday; we got a Champion juicer and started juicing to get all my nutrients in (well, not getting essential fatty acids nor amino acids). I'm starting a natural gallbladder cleanse because of all this. I'm trying to avoid the surgery. They would like me to have my gallbladder removed, but I'm of the opinion that the Lord gave us body parts for a reason and I'm going to try to keep all mine unless it's absolutely necessary to have something removed. Maybe look into this being either gallstone related, lack of protease (enzyme from the pancreas), or low stomach acid. I think mine is all three. So I am taking enzymes (well, was until I went all juice and blended fruits / vegs). And when I was eating meat prior to getting off altogether for a bit, I added Betaine HCL. But because mine is so bad (the shaking from the protein / fats), I don't know if the Betaine was working for me yet. Do you have a doctor that can check those things out? And maybe try a no protein and no fat diet for 3 days or so then slowly add either fats or proteins one day. Oh, and I've always been hypoglycemic, but now I think it's not actually too much about hypoglycemia as it is the protein / fats problem. I'm eating fruits and juices like crazy and not having the hypoglycemic effects so much... I think all those yrs. I said I was hypoglycemic, I was actually having a difficult time digesting fats / proteins! Tamara
Guest guest
Tamara Stay alert to your liver enzyme levels until you know your gallstone (or gallstones) have exited your common bile duct. You don't want to rupture your gallbladder or cause damage to bile ducts or liver by letting things go too long.... Checking the levels just requires a blood test. Cleanses don't always work, depending on the size or number of gallstones. Hopefully you'll experience improvement, many people do, but sometimes surgery is necessary. Our bodies do deteriorate as we get older [sigh]. I've had to learn a lot about the liver and pancreas and the problems that can occur in this area, since I was diagnosed with Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. Among other upper GI malfunctions, I've had to deal with a blocked common bile duct and a dysfunctional gallbladder (failed a HIDA with CCK). I keep an eye on my liver and pancreatic functions because of my Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction, so I am tested at least twice a year. These functions are the first thing my gastroenterologist orders when I'm in a severe symptom flare, in case I develop another blocked common bile duct, which usually occurs in patients with this dysfunction. My problems are with fats and carbs, not proteins, (and also with fiber and spices [sigh]) so I can eat a lot of lean meat, eggs and fish and low to medium carb veggies -- but can't eat much fruit and can't eat any of the high-carb veggies or dried beans. Sounds like you're figuring out what your body will tolerate. That's good. I just also recommend some prudence when it comes to gallstones. Our common bile ducts are tiny, and sometimes the stones are large and don't budge. Kim M. Guest guest
Kim, Your posts always scare me! I am nervous about doing this the natural way, but I want to avoid surgery if possible. The CT scan results say that the gallstone is 1 cm. and it's in the gallbladder. Why then am I having so much trouble with these mini-convulsion things going on when I eat fats (and proteins) and if I have too much carbs / fiber? The only thing I can definitly have is juiced fruits / vegs. I am eating a blended, cooked veg / fruit " soup " but I can't have too much. My pancreas, spleen, kidneys, etc. all came out " normal " on the scan. How can they tell if it's something more than this gallstone? Like how did they figure out your Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction? What does " failed a HIDA with CCK " mean? How do I know if it may be a common bile duct problem? The first sign of all this was 5 months ago... very, very, (very!!!) sick when I ate protein and fats. Then my skin turned yellow a couple months ago, then 2 weeks ago, was so nauseous and in so much pain (upper left side, never right side) along with this tingling and itching all over. Argh! All blood tests come back normal. CT scan only showed the 1 cm. gallstone, and liver enzyme numbers was normal. Why can't I eat then? Guest guest
Hey Tamara, Thanks for all of that info!!! Very insightful! =) He actually mentioned today that he is thinking of seeing a doctor (which is a big deal for him, because we are very " all natural " people, and don't trust doctors very much since they tend to be the opposite!). What exactly should he tell them? And what tests do you think he should have done? I know you explained it some, but what exactly are you doing again to get all of your nutrients? Could you give me an example of a day's meal plan perhaps so I can get an idea? (including any supplements!) He keeps telling me that he feels like he has hypoglycemia, but I had that in the past, and told him " but hypoglycemics eat no sugar or starches, and lots of protein! " So while the symptoms reflect that of hypoglycemia, I don't think that's the issue (just like you mentioned about yourself, how you question now whether or not that was truly the problem or if it was really the protein/fats the entire time). Definitely something for us to look into with him! Thank you! God bless! =) Carissa > > Cariss, > > I'm having this same reaction too. To protein and fats. Guest guest
Oh Tamara, you poor thing!! I'm looking forward to Kim's response!!! You both seem to know a lot about this stuff that I've never even heard of before! " Learn something new every day...
