My husband was doing really well last couple of wks, so well I thought lets try

to taper down prednisone . So, we went from 40mg and tapered down to 27 and half

doing it a wk at time. Then 2 days ago He started having great pain when getting

up and down. Went to Dr. and he said he is having flare. go back to 40 for now.

So, Did this mean the 7 wk he's been on diet had done no good? Of course it had

.. I'm so confused.,The steroids must be whats , I don't know , Does this mean

he can still heal . He has been on 40 mg for 4 months now, I worry.

Hi,

I'm no expert, but when you taper too quickly off steroids, it can cause a flare

up in symptoms. Has he tried a slower taper (or what did his doctor say)? I've

seen some people's taper schedules go down by 5 mg/week or even just 2.5

mg/week. I'm wondering if a slower taper may help.

I wouldn't say the time he's been on the diet has been no good. Many people

experience flares, I've been on the diet 6 months plus meds and experienced a

flare that I'm trying to get over. It's a long process of healing with ups and

downs, and many of us still have to take medications to get us over the flares,

but I still look at it as progress. Hope your hubby is feeling better soon.

Take care,

Amber
