Hi Sheena,

Good luck figuring all of this out! I think using a specific doctor

and insurance coverage totally depends on where you are located and

what insurance you have specific to your location... I've never heard

of the insurance you mentioned, but hopefully someone here can help.

Generally the surgery is considered medical and would be covered by

your health insurance and not dental insurance. There is the whole

process of restrictions, exclusions,if your case is deemed medically

necessary, etc, etc. Try to find an experienced doctor- experienced

not only with performing these surgeries, but also with handling the

business end of things regarding insurance, submitting claims, making

them go through, fighting for coverage for you, etc. Usually doctors

are familiar with local insurance companies/plans and can give you a

rough idea of what to expect- but always ask and don't assume! Good

luck and definitely research all the resources available on this site

because they'll be able to provide a lot of information for you!
